I was listening to the radio show yesterday and heard Dr Harley mention that he had names for various personality types. The one mentioned was the "Ejector Seat" personality. I've also read about the "Electric Fence" personality type in the articles section.
I'm curious if he has done any writing on this subject that anyone knows about? I thought it was an interesting subject and would like to hear about some of the other types that he has encountered over the years.

I also thought that was very useful information! Hope Dr Harley will consider writing more on this type of thing.

I'm curious if he has done any writing on this subject that anyone knows about? I thought it was an interesting subject and would like to hear about some of the other types that he has encountered over the years. The only writing I know on the subject is in Buyers, Renters, and Freeloaders, which mentions the Electric Fence personality. I have heard him talk about the ejector seat thing before, and I believe it's a behavior of the electric fence personality type. I think Dr. Harley tends to steer clear of these sometimes because they can be taken by some people to conclude that their marital partner is unchangeable and nobody can have a good marriage with them. You might be aware of Dr. Harley's personality test; it's not published anywhere, but you would have taken it when you started the online program. This has been mentioned a couple of times on the radio show. From what I've gathered, the higher your score on this test, the more impulsive you'll be and the harder it will be to coach you. My score on this test is astronomical. I think high scores on that test correspond to electric fence, high anxiety. I think it mainly comes down to "can you control yourself and stick to a plan?"

I think Dr. Harley tends to steer clear of these sometimes because they can be taken by some people to conclude that their marital partner is unchangeable and nobody can have a good marriage with them. I had the same thought as he seemed to be a little hesitant to even get into it. Nevertheless I found it very interesting and I'm sure that's something he picks up on and keeps in the back of his mind when dealing with clients. I was thinking it could be useful along those lines to have a general reference to work from when dealing with other people. You might be aware of Dr. Harley's personality test; it's not published anywhere, but you would have taken it when you started the online program. Yes we took the test. I honestly don't really remember much about it and wasn't told much about how I scored. I'm probably not qualified to interpret it anyway. Like you said I'm sure it's more for internal use.

I also thought that was very useful information! Hope Dr Harley will consider writing more on this type of thing. There are volumes of books written on personality types. Very true. However I am a fan of Dr Harley's ability to explain things so I can understand them.

LOL at Jedi and markos. You guys are awesome. I personally find Lot's Wife personality disorder to be problematic, unless you have a snowy driveway to worry about. Lizzy Borden personality disorder should also be avoided.
Happily remarried to wonderful woman who I found using the guidelines in "Buyers, Renters, Freeloaders" 2 baby boys, working on #3 and couldn't ask for anything more.
