Please give me some guidelines about being a good friend to a lady in my community who is in the process of divorce due to the husband's infidelity. I had a nagging feeling that there was another woman when she told me he had moved back to a state where the family previously lived. Our acquaintance is not long standing. She has two little kids with health problems.

Be a good listener, show concern for her situation and provide resources when asked, but don't give unsolicited advice.

I do inform her about resources in the community, such as the Veterans Affairs Office. She served in the National Guard. She and her kids had been living in a shelter and will soon have their own apartment. I was happy when she told me of the positive change in their living situation. When she mentioned a wish to have her daughter educated in a Christian school, I named two schools in the city as options.

Update: Yes, I have. She and the kids have an apartment, praise God! Her husband has returned home and is once again living with her. I pray that he proves himself a man of integrity through changed behavior and permanently cutting the OW out of his life.
