Hello,

My boyfriend of over a year and I just broke up. One of the main reasons we did is because of the major differences between our families and what they believe and how they do things. His parents believe that the husband should discuss things with his wife but ultimately he makes the final decision. My parents, who are Indianajordan and Indianaswife,(if you've read about them you know their issues), they used to do things that way, but are now trying to do things the way Dr. Harley suggests. I guess my question is is it really that important? Is it worth it that I sacrificed my relationship for the desire to be an equal partner in every decision with my partner? My other question I guess, if you know my parents issues, is how do I not end up being miserable like they were during the majority of their marriage? I know I have issues, I'm just learning slowly what they are. Sorry if this post is all over the place.

Welcome to MB. I commend you that you are starting to educate yourself on how to have a successful relationship/marriage. I wish more young people would do that.

Have you read much of Dr. Harley's material? Have you read about POJA?

Did your XBF agree with his parents about that a man makes the final decision?

I have his book, but didn't read it all because I loaned it to my ex. I know most of the stuff just from listening to my parents. I have heard of POJA.
Yes he did agree with his parents.

You probably have a book for married people. If you have a bad marriage, the plan in that book will help you get a great marriage.

You need a guide how to find and recognize the right man to get married to. If one marries the right person, it will be much easier to have a great marriage. The book you need to read is "buyers, renters, freeloaders" or "the one" (same book, different title).

This is a great book especially for those who are dating. Have you read this one?

I've heard of that one but I haven't read it.
