Okay, let's assume that my smoke-detector camera shows me the passwords for my wife's iphone and her apple laptop. What are my next steps? And can they be accomplished in under ten minutes? And, what are the perils and pitfalls. Obviously, I do not want to get caught!

1/ Install a keymapper on both her iphone and her lappy. But what's currently the most preferred keymapper (that doesn't require jailbreaking, etc)?

-- note: she does most of her texting on her laptop, when then sends the texts to her iphone as well as well as to the so-called recipient. Does this cause any issues in and of itself?

2/ if I know her Apple passwords, I'm assuming that if I use them on my computer, an alert message will be sent out. Correct? I would much rather access her accounts on my computer and not touch hers, but I don't think that's going to be possible. Correct?

Anything else I should be aware of?

You are not gong to see her laptop password through a camera. The password does not show in plain text and it is impossible to see which keys are being pressed on a keyboard from above. If this is an older iPhone that uses a four digit code, you might be able to get that.

If you are able to get the iPhone password, test to verify that it is correct, log out and do more research. Time will then be on your side. For example, you will want to test any spyware on your own device before installing. Then you can do the install itself at night when she is asleep.

Presume you mean a key logger? Until you know which device you have access to and the o/s, there is no point in planning the next step. You will not need to jailbreak the device.

I have texting disabled because I find it an appalling way to communicate so this is news to me. I have never heard of being able to send text messages from a computer. What kind of app is this?

I think you are confused. Her laptop password is not her Apple password. Neither is her iPhone password. The Apple password gets you into the Apple website, it does not give you remote access to her accounts. You need spyware for that. Once you have installed spyware on a device it will send you screen shots. But you do not rush into this, you test it first on your own device.

If you are trying to get evidence and she never talks on the phone then obviously screenshots of texts/emails will be good. If she also talks on the phone, phone records and a voice activated recorder hidden where she chats (in the car for example) will get you the information you need much faster.

LW: Thanks for all the info. It appears that I was about to go off half cocked. Although the smoke detector cam might not work, I have nothing to lose if I give it a try, assuming I don't get caught. Yes, keylogger is what I meant. There are tons of apps that make it so you can text from your laptop. I use one on my windows laptop called Mighty Text. Ah, yes, the passwords to get into her laptop and her iphone are indeed different from the one used to get into her Apple account proper. And, yes, I was confused. She does most everything by text and email. That said, I do have a VAR which I can use just to make sure I have all the bases covered. Thanks again.

I believe that if I can get her laptop or iphone password, I can get into those devices and probably find all I need to know to confirm my suspicions. Historically, she's had a habit of not deleting things and, if that hasn't changed, then I should get what I need without having to deal with her Apple account, keyloggers and the like.

Gotcha, well I did say I never use text messaging. I have it permanently disabled.

Yes you can take a screen shot with your phone of some incriminating text messages. But once you have the password, you can also decide to install a key logger later.

If you find something, do not confront her. Come back here for advice on your next step. Exposure has to be very strategic and there is no need for her to ever know that you hacked her device.
