I have seen a few posts from people who have used Spector software made by SpectorSoft. Has anyone used the new E-Blaster software? It is supposed to work the same way, record and store all keystrokes; but it differs by sending periodic e-mails to a designated address. That way, one does not need regular access to the computer to get the information.
Any problems with the software? Any difficulties with the download? What were the results like?

I have Spector, it records all screens every x number of seconds. You can see all that is received or written. Be very careful with this program. I mean as it relates to your mental health. If you have a problem and your spouse is really up to something like actually being unfaithful, use the information to either fix your marriage or end it. Do not continiously, daily get hooked into reading and "suffering" what you discover when reading the screenshots. It really can hurt!! I have used it to correct my marriage as best as I can. My wife has Chatted with men complaining of my shortfalls so I have adjusted accordingly, it seems to have helped even though she has also admitted that she does not think she can be faithful so I have a serious trust problem with her. Get the program if you think you need it

RichRitchey,

I have looked at the Spector product in the past and had a few questions. You are the 1st person I've run across with hands one experience. My concerns were.
1. How stealthy is the program. Can it be seen in the task list? Under what name?
2. Does it use it's own built in email client to send you the email updates or does it use the resident email application from the monitored PC leaving a trace in the sent items folder?
3. What does the app do if it encounters www communications problems or collected data overflow while WWW is not available. Does it do bad things like pop and error dialog box on the monitored PC?
Thanks,
Mike
I have the spector recording program, not the e mail version. If you have access to the computer the recorder version is better as you can see everything not just keystrokes. It is totally hidden and only accesible by pressing 4 hotkeys. This version was recommended by the Spector rep as better if you have access to the computer, if not you need E-Blaster which sends you email when you want to receive it with all the typed text. Again this is a horrible thing to have to do. I hate it, but you either use it to solve or end the problem. It hurts terribly reading what your wife is saying about you and how she is confiding in some chat preditor who is playing her emotions with the intent to eventually seduce and meet her. I definatley reccomend this program !! Good luck but be careful as it can screw up your head.

I'm not in the situation of needing to know much of anything like that anymore, just remembering the reasons I didn't purchase. I know what you mean about screwing up your head, I can still recite most of the emails between OM & WS that I found while hacking.

I have Spector installed, I have been using it since Jan, 01.
It works fairly well, sends me an e-mail update every thirty minutes when the computer is being used. If there is no activity, then no e-mail is sent to you. It does not show up on the task bar or tool bar, infact, I can't find it anywhere on my computer, I forget which program I had it installed in.
I, nor my H are computer literate, I think you would have to been extremely computer efficient to find it.
I read everything my H types on the keyboard, only problem I have is I sometimes can't figure out where and to whom he has sent his e-mail, because he will use Outlook Express or some other server that I can't get into. One good thing is, he has to type in his e-mail password to get into his accounts and that will show up, therefore you have his passwords. Also, you can't read e-mails sent to him with Spector, but with his passwords you can get into his accounts. The E-Blaster program will record everything. I have not been shocked or overwhelmed by anything he has typed ( thanks the Lord ), it has all been legitimate.
I, at this time, will not invest in another program. But,this has been worth the $70.
I can see where it would and could be very damaging and hurtful. Prepare yourself !
Cathy

If you don't need screen shots, I recommend STARR by Iopus at http://www.iopus.com/
If you are relatively computer literate, its pretty easy to almost completely hide any traces. You can remove all but 3 files, and THOSE files can be renamed. It can email you the logs at any interval you want. It won't show up in the task bar.

I have recently come across the WinGuardian software, which is a little less expensive than the other mentioned software. It runs in stealth mode and sends e-mails; it also provides screenshots.
Here's a link:
http://www.webroot.com/
I use a monitoring software sold by www.iopus.com. It works well, captures key strokes, urls for web sties visited, and the name of all processes (tasks) that are started.
Z

I've also just started using the Starr software, by Iopus--to keep an eye on my older son, not my formerly WS. Among other things, it does a good job of recording both sides of IM sessions, which OS uses a lot.
I use Win 2k, and had to change permissions on a few folders for the program to work right. Most applications seem to have a hard time installing and running under a secure operating system. The majority using Win 95 or Win 98 will probably have no problem. The program is otherwise easy to use.
Steve
