I noticed that a member is trying to withdraw from paxil.
One of the reasons being weight gain.
I have been on Paxil for approx 18 mos. They have been a great help for me with no serious side effects. During this time I have put on approx 30 pounds. I asked my Dr. if the weight gain was one of the side effects. She told me it wasn't.
I am just wondering if many others have had weight gain, while taking Paxil?

PS. My D and I, started to exercise tonight.

Hello P1, My doctor indicated that weight gain is a very common side effect as is weight loss. However, anyone I know that is taking Paxil (quite a few peopl) has gained on average, 20 pounds.
Hope that helps.

I lost weight on Paxil but everyone that I know has GAINED weight on it, almost without exception. My brother's Dr told him that weight gain was a side effect.

Hi Patient,
On Paxil I gained weight. That coupled with not being able to take my throid meds I look like the rolly polly dough boy. As if the affairs and verbal and emotional abuse was not enough.
Good news is my doctor changed me to cexela. No more weight gain. She was really worried about how much I had gained on Paxil. She informed me it was a side effect of Paxil. Not sure but check out cexela. I only take 10mg a day and feel really good on it.

I've been on Paxil 1 year. I've gained 20 lbs but then again I've been eating like a pig! I'm losing weight now because I'm eating right and running. I reduced my dosage until I started feeling bad. Now I know what minimum dosage I need to "survive".
