Thank you so much sing! That means more than you'll ever know.
So far this morning, I am doing okay. H and I had a good cry last night. I decided to pop in the vcr, a tape we made of "Andrew's first year". We had made copies for all of our family and friends for xmas 1997. I hadn't watched it since a few weeks after his funeral last September.
I will NEVER understand how such a strong healthy boy of almost 4 yrs old can suddenly pass away in his sleep. It doesn't make any sense.
My big 'excitement' for the day, will be to call the criminal investigation detective that was in charge of our case (b/c it was so odd, they had to investigate for murder, but that was ruled out immediately). The police dept still has his clothing and blankets and pillow (from what I understand, they were going to use them to check the fibres or something). I don't want everything back. Certainly not. Just the blanket - quilt actually - that he had on him. It was made for him by his great grandmother in 1999. It ticks me off that we haven't been able to get it back yet (sigh!).
My in-laws will also be dropping by for a visit on their way to Toronto (for a business meeting for FIL - he couldn't get out of it). I'm sure it will help them to see their other 3 grandsons today.
Thanks again for thinking of us. One thing I have learned throughout this past year, is that the day of the anniversary is not as bad as the days leading up to it.
Karen
Topie,
I know this won't help too much, but I know of another person who's little boy was also four when he passed away in the night, attributed to cot death. It happens, and no one knows why yet...
Thinking of you today, too.
