We were watching the news just before we left work today when they played the answering machine recording of the young woman telling her husband that she loved him just before her hijacked plane crashed.
H started crying and came to hug me very tightly. He was sobbing and telling me how very glad he was that one of us hadn't been in New York or the Pentagon..that he couldn't bear to think of the anguish that the victims' loved ones must be going through. He held me for about 15 minutes before he recovered himself enough for us to go home.
I got home a few minutes before he did, since one of his friends stopped him to talk just as we were leaving. When he got home, he hugged and kissed me and told me that he loved me. I told him that I wanted us to live each day with each other as though it was the last day of our lives so that each of us would have no more regrets if something were to happen to the other. He kissed me and told me that he would never regret marrying me...that he loved me so much and never wanted to hurt me again.
I'm starting to believe that my H does love me!
In the meantime, we have been talking about what we can possibly do to help. The blood banks here have been overwhelmed with blood donors, so our appointment is tomorrow morning. H was saying that he wished he could take our big BBQ grill (big enough to cook 2 hogs) to NY or DC and cook hamburgers/hotdogs/whatever to hand out to the rescue workers. We will be going in that area next week (already had the trip planned, and decided to go ahead).
I do wish that those Muslims who are horrified at the terrorist acts of Bin Laden would join together and publicly condemn the slaughter of all these innocent people. Hopefully, some of those Muslims overseas who support Bin Landen might wake up and see that he is NOT representing all Muslims.
Please, everyone, even in the midst of our troubled lives, let's not forget those lost lives and the loved ones they leave behind. I pray that they find all those who are trapped and still alive before it's too late.
We are flying our flags, and we have tied a huge red, white, and blue bow on the front door of our business to show our support for our great nation.
LC,
In all this tragedy it's comforting to have our families and Nation band together and realize exactly what we mean to one another.
The flags and other patriotic gestures are popping up everywhere and it's wonderful to see.
I caught the end of that recording being played last night and was stunned and thankful for the technology that we have today that allowed these victims to reach out with their last words!
God Bless America!
[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
