BtDt,
W has often accused me of having "male PMS". Well, lately, there were a few episodes that I'd have to agree with. But.... in the past "my" PMS always seemed to coincide with hers
A couple of weeks ago she was very concerned because someone told her that "male PMS" can last anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks.
Jo,
Yep, that's me, nature lover.
Favorite place: warm, sunny rock on parents island in Parry Sound, ONT, Canada.
Worst place: Pick a Mall, any Mall. Especially during Christmas season. Yikes, I guess that's now.
My Enya tag has more to do with the search for answers. I figured they had to show up in their own time. That song kept drawing me for a long time, but I couldn't understand a word they were singing. So... I "Asked Jeeves" to get the lyrics, same day you were wondering about "whorl".
Estes,
You must be in "Big Sky" country. We're going to be out in New Mexico backpacking on the Philmont Scout Ranch next summer. I guess that's on the edge of the big plains. Well, maybe not the same.
Did you get my email?

Orchid,
Thanks for the invitation. Upping the ante, huh -- bikes too? Would that be considered drinking and driving? I'd love to meet our "mother hen". I have to ask my W about it though.
She was about to meet her internet "friend" and I told her it was bad and that'd I'd probably have a heart attack or something. I never actually "forbade" it. She cancelled their plans.
I suspect her question will be why is it ok for me to meet my internet "friends", but not her?
There are lots of good answers to that question. You haven't sent me any romantic poetry lately have you? .... I didn't think so.
We are recovering nicely now and she has been doing a good job "protecting her weaknesses". Although, we still haven't had any of those heart-to-heart "what were you thinking at the time" type talks.
This particular question has been on my list for a while. Sooner or later it's going to come up. We shall see.
Jeffers
[ November 09, 2001: Message edited by: jeffers ]

jeffers,
I know we "were" . . .
I've lived in Virginia Beach, Hubert NC, and Beaufort, SC. Over my life time I've lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma (first - ha - yes I eat salt on my watermelon - Yee Haa), San Diego, Orange County, Oceanside, California; Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland, Seattle, Richmond Beach, and West Seattle - all in Washington; Topeka, Kansas, St. Louis, Mo; Austin, Texas, and San Antonio. Not including all the places visited. Looking back - guess I could say its been a fun life.
Sorry we all have to seek answers to hurts we shouldn't have too. Why are we such good friends here, and we "were" once good friends with our WS - then this hits - and we are trying to balance our life with the pleasures we once had - because everything's gotten shaken up?
The other weird thing is you thought you knew your S so well, and now you question what they are thinking - can you trust them?
Keep working on it. Driving and listening to music is wonderful.
I still can't believe "it" happened. Guess I'm still . . . aftershock

Hey Aftershock,
I eat salt on my watermelon (sometimes). I thought it was a Hawaiian thing..... we put salt on pineapple too (if it's too sour)..... I bet you all think I'm kooky now.... LOL!!!
Boy you sure have traveled around the country.

Jeffers,
Yep, you need your wife's permission. Permission slip signed and dated!!!! LOL! I will have my H here so that there is nothing to worry about.
Funny, H is no longer afraid of what I write here. Is that a sign of recovery? Hope so.
I hope you are able to have those heart to heart talks with your W. Seems like we loose a lot all at once but gt back our spouses only a little at a time.
My H is kind of a loner guy. He definitely needs more buddies (male kind) to hang around with. Yet he seems to interact well with guys he works with, but won't get too friendly with them. Then again, he doesn't get friendly with anybody....
Well, it is starting to sprinkle here, us Californians make such a big deal of little weather changes.... LOL!!!
L.

Hey guys,
I'll really date myself here. You really want to know - Topeka was in 61/62 - I was in the second grade. My dad was in aerospace and we moved there for a year. My parents rented a 2 story white house, covered pool in the back that was huge, 4 huge hardwood trees in the front. I had the entire 2nd floor to myself. Two ways to get upstairs through the kitchen & another main stairway - it was cool - I could sneak down the backway through the kitchen, and there was a basement with a stone circular stairway . The basement had different rooms. I had my own full bath upstairs and a huge bedroom. There were 2 large bedrooms upstairs in fact. The house was like a dream. It was really neat. It snowed & I made snow angels. I remember walking to school in the snow.
I don't remember the name of the street we lived on, or my school. We only lived there for a year. I would like to see the house again, but I doubt I ever will, because we don't have any relatives there, and not much reason for me to return now - who knows tho.
My dad was in aerospace, so we moved frequently for many years. I decided to go active duty to do something more with my life - it seemed there was so much drug use in California (actually it was everywhere but since I was living in California I saw the drugs there with the younger people). One has to be strong to stay away from bad influences.
That's why I've been to so many different cities, either through my dad or my career. It's fun to look back. I guess how (boring?) if you'd grown up in the same place & stayed there all your life. I learned at a very early age the 2 lane Route 66, and driving across country switching drivers. I use to sit up with my dad at night when he would drive and look at the stars and the moon. Dad use to go over driving techniques with me even when I was young. I even remember driving across country in the snow, and ice, although under those conditions we didn't drive at night. Whenever I drive I-40, I always look for Old Route 66 roads. Sure miss those days sometimes.
You have to look for ways to broaden your horizons.
Okay, okay, so we're off the subject now -

Hey Jeffers,
Howz about this idea? Hook up with Redhat. I think he is in the SF CA area. There is a national park called John Muir Woods. Giant sequoia trees, right near the ocean. You can hike or even ride a bike. If I can attach the link, I will. I found a site where virtual tours are given for some of the parks. It is a pretty neat site.
I can't find the link but if you go to askjeeves and put in virtualparks (one word) you will see the link.
Then maybe H & I can meet you guys somewhere. Just a thought. If it doesn't work out at least you'll get to see some of those giant sequioas.

Hey people,
Sorry I went AWOL from this thread - had a busy weekend. I still thought of it on the way into work today and got a big smile out of it.
Salt on pineapple? Sounds like the kind of snack my D used to get in preschool. They had this weird rule that snacks had to have a salty item and a sweet item. No one could ever explain why.
After Shock,
Snow Angels? That reminds me -- W and I are going to MI for a visit this weekend. We have a running joke going with her dad about how much better climate is in SC (at least, we think it's a joke). Our standard of comparison is that we can grill outside all year round. FIL says he can too. We have a picture of BIL sitting on his (BIL's) deck in 1 foot of snow with beer chilling at his feet. Winter deck weather in MI. LOL.
Orchid,
Found the virtualparks link, no Quicktime on my computer at work, have to do this at home.
What do MB people talk about when they meet? MB shop talk? Weather? "Survivor/Africa"? A Redhat hookup is an interesting thought. Thanks.
Jeffers
