Wow,
Last night, driving to a Christmas party, WW and I were listening to the Barenaked Ladies on the stereo. WW specifically pointed out this song to me - asked me to listen to it. She said she thought I'd appreciate it. (Especially the part starting with "But I'm warning you...".)
She qualified it by saying "well, I'm not exactly at the making amends point" but we sat there and sang it together anyway... (And she admitted she was in the role of the "crazy messed up things that you do" role.)
I'll tell ya all... just when I get frustrated and start to lose hope, she'll do something like this, and my God - I just realize I can never give up - there's clearly the real wife in her trying to reach out now and then - she loves me and wants to stay deep down. Listening to this song, especially knowing she pointed me at it - breaks my heart in a good way!
I may be breaking some kind of copyright law, but the words are profoundly insightful and inspiring, hopefully to all BS (and WS) out there. So buy the CD (Stunt) - call it free advertising.
--------------------------
I think,
It's getting to the point
Where I can be myself again
It's getting to the point
Where we have almost made amends
I think,
It's the getting to the point
That is the hardest part
And if you call,
I will answer
And if you fall,
I'll pick you up
And if you caused this disaster,
I'll point you home
I'll point you home
You think,
I only think about you
When we're both in the same room
I'm only here to witness
The remains of the big zoo
You think,
We're here to play
The game of who loves more than who
If you call,
I will answer
And if you fall,
I'll pick you up
And if you caused this disaster...
You think,
It's only fair to do
What do what's best for you and you alone
It's only fair to do
The same to me when you're not home
I think,
It's time to make this
Something that is more than only fair
So if you call,
I will answer
And if you fall,
I'll pick you up
If you caused this disaster,
I'll point you home
But I'm warning you,
Don't ever do
Those crazy, messed up things that you do
If you ever do,
I promise you,
I'll be the first to crucify you
Now it's time to prove
That you've come back here to rebuild
Rebuild, rebuild, rebuild
Rebuild, rebuild, rebuild
Rebuild, rebuild, rebuild
Rebuild

Wow, those words are definitely a message within itself!!
There's this place I go to search for music, kazaa.com, where you can find that song. I am downloading it now. No having to go the store!
Thanks for sharing this with us J.R. Hope things continue improving on the home front for you.

I hate to be so nit-picky, but this has been one of my favorite songs for several months and one line in particular that I like is:
I'm only here to witness the remains of love exhumed (as opposed to the big zoo)
Thanks for posting this...
NP

Listening to it on my computer speaker and typing at the same time - not a good idea! Thanks for the correction!
