Please give advice. We (ws & I) are receiving letters from a false address (it is most definitely the OW), as things mentioned in the letters are things only the three of us know.
These letters are telling my husband that i am having an affair and that i want a divorce and he needs to wake up and give me what i want, etc, etc,..... It states that until i give him what i want, we will be receiving 1 - 3 letters per week.
WHAT DO I DOOOOOO???????????????????
These letters are awful.......... and no i am not having an affair, never had, never would.......
Please please give me some advice...........
thanks...

I read your other posts from a week ago. You stated that WH was having A with her. Is he still seeing her? If he is, I would suspect these letters are a "con" on you, to intimidate you into leaving so they could be together. Possibly concocted by him AND her. Sorry to say this, but that is what my first instinct is. If this is the case, I would NOT open them or read them, I would just tear them up and BURN them without even opening them! Then if he asks about them, just calmly state you burned them, it's nothing but trash contained in them!
If he has stopped seeing her, then it is most likely her doing this for revenge on you (and him) for "breaking them apart." If he's as upset as you are over the letters, I would call the police and file harrassment charges against her.
Either way, continue your "stand" and continue to post here, and read everything and learn. There are great books out there, but most of the good stuff I got was from reading on this website....the Harley's stuff is excellent! Read ALL about the concepts and all the links. Learn, grow and stand your ground. You CAN save your M.
Lupo

Hi,
Let your H know that you will be sharing these letters with the local police. This could be a form of harrassment. Definitely a bad thing.
Law enforcement is very sensitive to what is passed in the mail these days. I would not hesistate to find out what your rights are and what you can do about it.
There may be no address but there may be fingerprints. Whatever, push comes to shove somebody cna do something within the law.
If it is not your H and a vengeful OW, you could be dealing with a psyco type person. You should be careful. I am not trying to scare you just be cautious and careful.
Take Care,
L.

I'd say contact the Post Office and tell them you're receiving harassment mail. You don't have to explain the details, but do give them a sample of one of the letters.
As Orchid said, both the Post Office (which is a Government agency) and Law Enforcement are very sensitive to the mail system being used for other than what it was intended (harassment, terriorism, etc.)
What I believe they'll do is then monitor your mail and trace the place of origin of these letters.
This is a very serious crime, VERY. A federal offense.
If you have any way of contacting the OW, be sure to let her know what you AND YOUR H are doing to combat the postal harassment. I bet she'll stop after giving her this heads up.
Good luck,
Jo

ppatch35
It sounds like whoever is writing these letters is breaking the law - SLANDER - is still against the law.
Call the F B I - the postmaster, and local law enforcement!
TNT

Ppatch:
You should definitely contact your local postal authority. If there is mail fraud (a federal offense) they will investigate and take proper action. The USPS has its own enforcement branch. You may also consider a restraining order through your county court. While the letters are clearly libelous (not slander) this would be a civil and not criminal matter.
Keep us advised.

Hmmmmm...in addition to the great advice you have been given...what has your WH reaction been to all this? You have not said what he has said, done, felt? Is it possible he has a hand in this at all? Be very careful in giving him too much info as to what you are doing...if he is in on it...they could even be originating from his place of work or somewhere nearby? I don't mean to sound the like the voice of gloom and doom, but if he is being sneaky and in on this, then telling him what you are doing only makes him and OW get better at hiding what is going on. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I would rather you be safe than sorry.
*Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.*
Trueheart

You have gotten good advice. Just wanted to say a bit more.
In addition, don't open any more of the letter so that you don't have to read the garbage. But save all of the letters until this blows over. I you keep the letters you may be too tempted to open them and read them. Perhaps you can have a trusted friend or relative hold them for you with instructions to never give them to you unless you need them for evidence.
In addition to calling the police, call the post office. They may be able to trace where the letters were mailed from... like her work, a post box near her home, etc etc. If they can prove it is her, they will prosecute.
In addition to filing charges against her, get a restraining order. Then if she does anything more to harass you, she is committing a felony. This type of thing has to be handled swift and quickly or it will progress and get uglier.
Do not read any more of the letters. She is trying to get between you and your h. This would not be hard to do. I have a friend whose H’s OW wrote her letters detailing every thing, even intimate sexual details. She did this. And you will have no way of knowing if it is true or fabricated. She is trying to hurt you. If you and your H do not read the letters then her power is taken away.

Hi,
Another thought!!! Put all letters in a zip lock bag for evidence. Be careful not to get your fingerprints all over it. You want the OW's prints or whoever to show up real clear.
That's what I did to the one I got, but I knew it was from her.
L.

Hi All...
First of all...WS's response to the mail received initially was like mine -- very angry....(toward me)....eventually i'll share the 'letter' with you...it's horrid, absolutely horrid. It's written as though it's from my boyfriend to my husband requesting a divorce like 'i want'....and we'll settle for a cash settlement to make it 'easy'....
For starters, I never have asked for divorce. Fortunately a caring family member gave me this website....Additionally, information in this letter was only known by 2 people, my WS and myself.....So therefore, he had to share it with the OW.......who bled this information in this letter from 'my boyfriend'.......
Nonetheless, the letter is now in the hands of the PD..... We're awaiting the arrival of subsequent letters, which have stated would be arriving beginning tomorrow.
So We shall see.............
Thanks for the help/support.
Hubby is not mad at all about the matter going to the police, and the info in the letter could not have been him AT ALL....not even in a micro second.....
I think we're going to make it through this..... I'm cautiously optimistic today........
Thanks again.
Shellee
