Everyone,
How about keeping signatures to 5 lines or less, pretty please?
Keep the basic facts in your signature. We don't need to know the date every single time you talked with your spouse after the d-day.

I can top that jo. Found a 31 liner on page 1 GQII. BUT, I do not consider the sig lines to be a problem when taken in context with why we are all here. Those tag lines are very important to some of us. Not only do these lines provide a sort of therapeutic benefit to the author, they also are of benefit due to the enormity of the site; ie, number of posters.
Beats the heck out of trying to stay up on all the different stories. Without the taglines I would be lost to some of the posters sagas.
I do see how the sigs can be a nuisance as well. But, I think it is a small enough price to pay to lend encouragement to others.
My 2 pennies worth.

I think people should be able to express themselves as susinctly or verbosely as they wish. If you dont want to read them scroll on.

That's the question and here are a couple of possible answers:
1) Courtesy to others
2) Encourage others to read *all* of a person's posts and replies.
My preference(not that it matters) would be for a person who feels the need to tell their whole story every time they post, to put it in a thread and then simply put a link to that thread in their signature...
Like....
For my whole story, read "My Thread"
This seems like a compromise to satisfy all reasonable parties...IMHO, of course...

If you dont have the time or patience to read the sig line then dont...what does it matter if it is there or on a link. As I said if you dont want to read it scroll on. Personally my computer moves slowly and sometimes when checking a link I get kicked off completely...so what is courteous to one is inconvienent to another.

Because they are the only thing I CAN focus on. Some of the topics are 5 pages long with only 3-4 paragraphs of actual text & the rest are signature lines.
Personally my computer moves slowly
So why would you want to load it down over & over with a bunch of stuff you have already read?

Okay, my posts to Chris were just a joke, for what it's worth.
Personally I don't have a preference regarding long or short sigs. Because I'm a firm believer that volume doesn't matter, it's what you do with it that's important.
Am I in trouble now? LOL ..... hope so.
