Look it up on the internet. Zoloft is the correct spelling. There is a new anti-depressant called Lexapro. Look that one up too. I am on Zoloft, and am asking to see my Dr. about Lexapro. Zoloft takes about 6 weeks for it to take effect. It has some side effect. Lexapro takes about 2-3 weeks for results to happen. The dosage of Lexapro is less than Zoloft. Ask your Dr., they will give you information to read about both.

My W is 42. Diagnosed as *pre-peri-menopausal.* For the past year she has been on 200mg Zoloft/150mg Wellbutrin daily. Has been on Zoloft for about 2 years total.
The Wellbutrin was added possibly to help her libido or to increase her general *feelings.* Broaden her horizons, take the blinders off, I'm not entirely sure.
I have mentioned to her 2-3 times (over the last 6 months) my concerns about her meds. Along the lines of: "If they were effective, you should be feeling better." "Please ask your doctor." "Maybe there's something better or your dosage needs adjusting."
She gets very defensive: "It's not my meds, it's YOU!!!", "My meds are fine!", "They help me not to cry all the time."
My observation is that she's still anxious, argumentative, troubled, unhappy, questions our marriage, withdrawn.
In short, she's still depressed, but with the added problem of being acclimated to her meds.
FWIW, W thinks Zoloft is great.

I am on Paxil and the Dr. gave me Xanax for the anxiety attacks until the Paxil started to take effect.
I have a question: Has anyone suffered SF side effects from this. I have not been the same since. I have less feeling and it makes me very sad because that was an area we had no problems in.

onlyU: I am convinced that your meds are a major factor in how you are feeling about SF.
it may not be the whole problem, but it is certainly worth discussing THOROUGHLY with your prescriber.
you may even want to have your H with you at that meeting. it will make him feel better, guaranteed.
personally, i bleeve i would rather have the crying jags than subject myself to untold side effects & addiction to ssri's & untold other health factors.
take some ginseng & fish oils, for crying out loud. AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!! (bump)

I was on Celexa, which helped the crying spells- but I was VERY sleepy and numb below the waist- no interest in sex. My doc switched me to Serzone, on which I've had no side effects. I know people for whom Celexa has worked great tho, and people for whom Serzone has not worked. So, talk to your doctor if you have any side effects from your meds, a change may help.

Serzone worked wonders for me in helping me crawl out of depression. It even increased my libido, which was a very nice perk for me (and H! . I heard it's linked to liver problems, tho.
Dr. wouldn't put me on Paxil because it decreases sex drive considerably in many people. My brother takes Paxil for panic attacks. I didn't have any attacks (mine are nocturnal panic attacks) while on Serzone, but have had a couple since I weaned off 3 months ago.
I don't personally know anyone on Zoloft, but I know that different meds work differently for everyone. Sometimes it's trial and error until you find something that works.
