Football fans ... I was out to dinner Wednesday night with my wife and I saw Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe as he was leaving. At a chain restaurant, no less!

One day I was going into a pharmacy and I could see out of the corner of my eye someone come up behind me, I stepped back and opened the door ( which I often do, doesn't matter if it's a man, or women.)

This time it was a gal, Marie Osmand. This is when she and Donny had the TV show, and they were more popular. She said "Thanks" and I can't remember what I said.

Once Dale Murphy ( the baseball player) came in the store where I work and got some stuff. It looks like they shop and eat just like the rest of us. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />

A few months ago, Yao (don't know his last name). The Chinese basketball player who's with the Houston Rockets. He IS tall.

I used to run a record store several years back that was popular with many St. Louis professional athletes. Orlando Pace, Grant Wistrom and Isaac Bruce of the Rams were in regularly. Ray Lankford and Brian Jordan -- then of the Cards -- were also in quite a lot. I also had occaision to meet many rock stars and other musicians, including several heroes of mine.

Tops on the list, though, was Bob Costas, who lives in the St. Louis area with his family. He and I chatted about the state of his old talk show on NBC, called "Later." I told him it hadn't been the same since he left and I likened it to Charlie Rose's show. Rose can take someone who is as dull as dirt and keep me glued to the set because he's so well prepared and asks awesome questions. Costas is the same way. At any rate, Costas then told me he had recently been on Conan O'Brien's show and Conan joked that "Later" had become like jury duty for celebrities because eventually they're gonna be called to host. I sold him about $400 in CDs that day. When he left, he asked my name and reached to shake my hand. I'm still impressed. Does it show?
