My husband stayed at a Super 8 Motel a few months ago. To make a long story short- he was given a discount for a Triple A card. The problem? He doesn't have a triple A card.
Do the clerks ask for an ID number- or even check to verify if the person checking in has one? Or do they simply give people that discount?
Thanks for any answers

They suppose to check it. -rh-

I can tell you that a desk clerk can and will give discounts to random guests and write in various reasons. For example. We asked the clerk at a major hotel in the downtown section of a major city, the prices of the rooms and she told us that she had some rooms that she could offer us at a discount at "convention" rates.A discount of almost half the regular rate.We were not there for a convention but we accepted and stayed on the 15th floor way down at the end of the hallway on an almost empty floor.Another time we were given discount rates for a room at a place that catered to sports events and was usually rented in "blocks" of rooms and a room was not occupied in one of the "blocks" of rooms. It was a little loud but we saved money. We also have been given senior citizen discounts without being asked our age.My H has beautiful premature grey hair and it gets noticed by the young clerks. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> So this one might not be anything to fret over. The motels/hotels like to fill their empty rooms even if it means giving a discount that is not truly legit. kk
