I am the WS in our relationship. My husband and I gave our relationship a lot of effort and began the road to recovery. It's been a year since the A came out in the open. We have been in MC and have followed "His needs, her needs". Lately, we don't seem to be connecting and are spending less time together. Do you think this is a sign that my husband is tired of trying and that I have damaged him beyond repair?

If there is a spouse out there in his position, please give me pointers on how I can help him.

Since your marriage is apparently improving, and I'm sure honesty and open communication are an important part of that, why not discuss this with him in a non-confrontational mannner? Then you won't have to guess and can put your energy in the appropriate area to fix the problem.

Have you shared your feelings with your H? If not I would definitely bring it up and see how he feels and hopefully find out what’s going on.

Are you still in counseling anymore? Do you do little things each day to make him feel special? Do you both spend anytime talking each day? You said “lately” you have felt this way. How long is lately? Week? Months?

My H and I are in recovery and I know there are days when I feel disconnected from him and I let him know. For us, it’s usually hectic weeks when both of our kids have their baseball/soccer practices and we are both going in different directions. But we discuss it and move forward and remember to spend that time together each day.

Damaged,

You did not kill your M forever but you put M in ICU. You need to get MB or pro-marriage conselor, the road to recovery is very narrow and hard. When there is no open communication between the two of you, you need to call MC. Both of you are not fit for DoItYourSelfMBer.
