I have read so many posts but hardly ever see anything about those of us who may be empty nesters or childless.

I am handling the weekdays pretty doggone well because of my job, but the weekends are killing me. I find myself depressed and crying almost all weekend. Now I know that is not healthy, but I am without any real friends nearby. My lifelong "best" friend decided about 2 years ago she didn't want that role anymore. My current best friends is 3 hours away. Locally, we have only couple friends and acquaintances.

How do those of you who are truly along handle it? I get so tired of not having conversation, not hearing friendly voices.

Trying to take care of me, eating right, exercise, etc., but how to get past these weekends?

IsGirl,

I went through this before on the weekends my son was with his father. What I did was to plan things for the weeked during the week. Otherwise I just sat there all weekend going nuts.

If you don't have a circle of friends right now.. then join a weekend class or two, do volunteer work, etc.

Hello again ISGirl

I'm at the same spot as u. this is the first weekend since dday that has been fair to me.

You need to plan ahead, read a book, go out, do some shopping, call friends, try new activity or group if you find one (even a gym might do), go to walk...
or you can also try to chat with some ppl from here that stay home also

If you feel like chatting... I'm available
