Every time I go to hotmail account (we share his) there is an advertisement for American Singles. Since DH has a porn problem is there a way to get that removed so we don't see it?

You will need to install (by downloading) a pop-up stopper. There are a bunch available. Just type in "MSN pop up ads" in any search engine and do some reading to determine which one you want. Panicware is a good brand. Usually the free ones don't do much, so plan on spending $20-50 for one that does a good job. Judging from your signature line, it will be money well-spent.

YOu may want to check the Internet History on your IE to see if that explains why you are getting that particular ad.

There is a free program called Ad Free that will block most web advertisements. A search at download.com will bring it right up.

Just make sure to "Update the Server List" after you install it and every now and then.

It works by keeping a list of servers that store advertisements and tells the computer to pull a dummy blank ad from elsewhere.

Perhaps this would do what you are looking for.

If it's on the login page (which I think it is) then there's nothing you can do about it.

The only way around it that I can think of would be to use an email client to download your mail for you. That way you wouldn't have to go to hotmail.com at all.

If you're running a current version of Windows (2000 or XP) you'll have a program called Outlook Express installed on your computer. That is the easiest way to do it. When you open the program (if you've never used it before) it will walk you through the setup process. It's very self explanitory.

Once you do that, you just open the program, and it automatically logs into hotmail, downloads your mail, and it's then stored on your computer so it can be viewed offline.

The only drawback to this is the added risk of a virus on your computer. When you view your email on the hotmail website, there's no way for script viruses to get to your computer, since the messages themselves are stored on the microsoft servers. When you download the mail to your computer, there's alwasy the risk of getting a virus.
The fix for that is installing (if you haven't already) an anti-virus program such as Norton's or McAfee and keeping it up to date.

If you do that, you'll be safe. It will keep you from having to view the ads (which are kind of risque sometimes) and it really makes keeping up with your email much easier.

It's just a picture on the login page at www.hotmail.com.

Might be easier to try that to begin with if you'd rather not change the way you get your email.
The only drawback I see there is that I've seen that ad change from time to time, and you'd have to make sure you specify exactly which picture you don't want to display. If the ad changes, it will display again. (from my understanding of the program. I may be way off)

Thanks all! I'm going to try several options this weekend while DH is away. I just think it is too tempting right now to have pictures of pretty, young girls right there. Yes it is an ad and not a pop up.

I would watch the personal profile to. Its a deadly place for people who have MSN to meet and hook up. A shark found my wife that way. 1 week since d-day.
