Pepperband is, of course, The Beatles.
Tonight H, and I (the Pepmeister) are taking our 14-year-old daughter with us to see Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band .... at Universal Studios Ampitheatre.

I was 15 when I saw The Beatles for the very first time in San Francisco at the Cow Palace!
I cannot stop smiling today!
I feel 15 again!
"I wanna be your lover, baby ..... I wanna be your man"
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
I still have ticket stubs and buttons and posters ...... from previous concerts ..... the last one being 2001.
I AM SO HAPPY AND EXCITED I CAN'T STAND MYSELF !!!!!

Pep, just bumping up this news...so Active Topic Readers can see the first few lines! As for the All-Starr's...man, when my old-steady from Kent State...Joe Walsh was with them, man how we would party. Before the '89 tour, I was no where near "dust", then. Zak was just a baby, ahh the I still will long for those days when I', 64. Take pics and tell Starkey that Dustkitty says hello, and yes I should have stayed with Joe. Ringo looked better when I did his hair Turn up your sound!

Pep in the news! The Merc is the first morning paper to hit the stands in The Peninsula, so imagine how delightful it was to read this. (I am deleting most of the article, just the stuff about Pep.) Mercury News San Jose CA. San Francisco/ Last night's audience at the Cow Palace were eager to welcome back Ringo Starr after almost 3 decades since the Fab Four made Bay Area Girls swoon and cry..... ....Ringo after the final ovation made an unexpected invitation for anyone that was present at the 1965 concert to join the band for the after gig party.... ...Police were called to the scene of the party when an attactive, vivacious, and intelligent woman would not cease from giving the band and roadies unsolicited Relationship Advice . Said Starr, "she was blimmey loons" The woman who would only idenify herself as "Pepperband" was taken by SFPD. Later the woman in custody was idenified as culture icon and author, Erica Jong, author of eight books including 1973's Fear of Flying.... link for Mercury's legal department Is this true Pep?

Part of it might be true ..... part of it might be a slight exaggeration .... part of it might be a lie .... part of it might be imaginary ... part of it might be forgotten .... part of it might be fiction .... part of it might be dementia .... part of it might be hyperbole .... part of it might be a dreammmmmmm

Gee, Pep! I'm at least 4 years older than you!
I would have given $6.45 anytime,(approx 1/7 of my weekly earnings at the time) to see the Beatles!
Man, talk about feeling OLD .!!!!

I always liked Ringo's "With a little help from my friends". And they thought he couldn't sing before then!
He was the most level-headed post-Beatles Beatle, IMHO. But I still miss John and George.
One of my early Beatles faves, kind of a plan B theme song:
"Not a Second Time
You know you made me cry I see no use in wondering why I cry for you And now you've changed your mind I see no reason to change mine I cry it's through, oh
You're giving me the same old line I'm wondering why? You hurt me then You're back again No, no, no, not a second time!
You know you made me cry I see no use in wondering why I cry for you, yeah And now you've changed your mind I see no reason to change mine I cry it's through, oh
You're giving me the same old line I'm wondering why? You hurt me then You're back again No, no, no, not a second time!

How exciting!
I remember very clearly that the first album I ever MEMORIZED was "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (my bro's copy)
I love the Beatles too.
When I was a wee little girl, my fav was Ringo. I liked that he was a bit on the goofy side.
Hope you're having a fab time!

Pep, hope you and yours have a fun time. Nostalgic or not, the Beatles were definitely 1 of a kind.
To Pep, One of my fav Ringo tunes:
Octopus' Garden
(Starr) Lead vocal: Starr
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden in the shade
I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus' garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade.
We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an octopus' garden near a cave
We would sing and dance around
because we know we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves
(Lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe
(Happy and they're safe)
We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden with you.
Hope you had a nice time, L. [ September 09, 2003, 01:16 AM: Message edited by: Orchid ]
