Has anyone seen this movie?? I saw it last night and it wasn't about what I thought it was, but it was very good. I don't want to tell too much but Diane Lane has gone from being the WS in her movie Unfaithful to being the BS in this movie. It isn't so much about that as it is the aftermath. And how she handles things.....well a lot of us could see ourselves in her. Even if she is doing things we wouldn't do ourselves, we may have thought about it or wanted to at one point. Good lessons I think!

Maybe I'm weird but I usually like this genre of movie, the so-called 'chick flick'. I guess its because I get to cuddle with my wife while watching it and then afterwards get to discuss the points of the movie with her. She already asked me if we could go see it this Saturday (the girls will be at their mom's) and I agreed, so it's a date.
I like Dianne Lane's performance in 'Unfaithful' (in fact I like the movie a lot) and hope that she continues to get more movie offers. I also like the fact that a 40'ish actress can show the often overlooked fact that women do become more beautiful as they become older.
And lastly, and before I forget, happy B-day Adgirl. Don't eat too much cake.

Thanks TMCM! Actually a perk of the "divorce diet" is that people WANT you to eat lots of cake so they don't call you a pig if you do! hahahaa. They want to see that weight put back on. I am satisfied where I am now though so I will just eat my normal amount- ummmm 3 or 4 pieces. I would love to hear what you and your wife think of the movie so be sure to write your feedback after you watch it!

Sorry to say we were not able to go see the movie this past Saturday because my wife, in her own words, was "forced to ride the cotton bicycle" but as soon as she is well, we'll go see it. [ October 20, 2003, 08:46 AM: Message edited by: T00MuchCoffeeMan ]

I read Frances Mayes' Under the Tuscan Sun & Bella Tuscany and the movie previews don't look anything like the books, which I loved.
In Under the Tuscan Sun, she moves to Italy with her partner, Ed, I don't recall if they are married or not, but they are definitely together and she is not alone. There is a lousy first husband, but he's back in the US (I think San Francisco?), where they have their other house.
But then I have a pet peeve with movies that use the same title but very little of the substance of a book. I'll wait until it's on video.

Saw it, thought is was verrrrry slooooowwww. Didn't like the way the infidelity was handled. No attempt to save the marriage, just move on. Too scattered, not much focus. I would rent it or see it at the cheap theater, I wouldn't pay full price.
Loved Unfaithful. Incredibly accurate portrayal of the baby steps that lead to an affair. Also thought it was interesting that Diane Lane switched sides, from WS to BS in this newest movie.

Lor, Now I am interested to read the book. I somehow end up usually watching the movie and thinking the book can't be any better, than I read the book and think Wow, the book is 10x better!!
Cerri, I can see your point about handling the infidelity, but I actually liked it I guess because I am divorced and I liked seeing how she reacted AFTER the divorce and knowing that I felt the same way even if I didn't do all the things she did (like with her new man). I am not Catholic so I didn't particularly get into the Catholicism but I did get into the faith issues she was having. Unfaithful was excellent and I told my friend I went with that Diane Lane was great at presenting both sides (WS and BS). Maybe I am weird- my friend didn't like it that much either.
