i've been having trouble sleeping... my doctor gave me a rx for ambien last week... tried it for the first time last night (10mg)... i slept for about 4.5 hours and woke up... i was awake for 1.5 to 2 hours... went back to sleep for 1 hour and that was it... i was hopeful for a full nights (7 to 8 hours) sleep... was my experience typical?...

Before I started having relationship issues Ambien worked fine for me. Then after all hell broke loose my Dr. put me on Lorazapam because the Ambien was doing the same thing to me as it is you. Good luck

I have a condition called Fibromyalgia which keeps me from going into the deep sleep patterns. I have taken Ambien off and on for years. When I take the full 10mg, i usually sleep 6-8 hours. I only take a full one once a week, because they can be habit forming if you're not careful. I also take a half tablet once a week. So about 15 mg a week once in awhile more.

What works best is if I am relaxed before taking it. My H will usually rub my neck and shoulders for a few minutes first. Make sure you aren't watching anything exciting on TV before you take it as well.

I am not knowledgeable on ambien, but do ask for a second opinion. My doctor advised against any sleep aid medication as most contain properties that actually enhance the depresion. My doc. prescribed anti depressants, and even though it takes awhile for them to kick in, they do work.

My psychiatrist and MD both said that I was okay with Ambien/Zoloft combination. Big caution was over using Ambien.

As a Registered Nurse, I know some about Ambien. Like most all other sedatives it can take from 4-8 weeks before you get the blood level of the medication built up in your system. Until then you may only acheive minimal results from it. After that you should notice a difference.

I've been taking Ambien for 4 nites and I've had the same reaction as oaktown. So if it take 4 t0 8 weeks than how come I was told not to take it for more 7 to 10 days because it can become habit forming?

Anybody know anything about Soma or Sonata?

forevertogether: i'm jealous... of the sleep, that is...

rookie: lack of sleep is depressing me...

ldw1424: if it takes 4 to 8 weeks to really become effective and there are warnings against using it for more then 7 to 10 days... then this is a catch22... does dose have anything to do with it?... how much is too much?...

tmd: i don't know anything about soma or sonata but i do know that i need to find something... good luck tonight...

I had trouble sleeping and tried over the counter sleeping pills. I decided lack of sleep was preferable.

I actually had trouble sleeping from before the A began until three months ago, over a year after the A was brought to light.

Guess what happened at about the time I started to be able to sleep through the night? My H started sleeping in another room.

In retrospect, I realize that I felt like a whore sleeping beside him. Last night, he told me he feels no care for me and has no desire to feel care for me. Am I supposed to sleep next to a man who feels that way?
