JL, I wanted to thank you for all the things you have taught me here. Reading your posts over the years has been an eye opening experience that has dramatically changed my perspective on many things. I never fail to be in awe of the depth of your knowledge, razor logic, and ability to drill down and grasp an issue. Watching your proficient, articulate skill in the use of the 2x4 is nothing short of artwork.

I very much appreciate the support you have given me and know that it probably took an effort, especially after my most ungracious, and much regretted remarks, a few years back.

[No, I didn't fall down and bonk my head, you guys, it is really me, MinceNoWordsMelody! I have just been wanting to tell him this for a while and I going to tell him now.]

Hi Mel,

I wanted to also say ditto on your post. I have been helped greatly by JL. He is a mysterious one but always there in time of crisis.

I look towards him as my big MB bro'.

JL, I don't want to embarress you but you have helped so many of us and for sooo long. It is not a wasted effort. Many thanks to you and your W.

We may never meet but we will always know you care.

Hugz to U both,
L.

What is really amazing is that he is neither a BS or a WS, and yet his advice is right on the money (I wonder what brand of coffee he drinks .)

Melody,

I am indeed humbled by your comments. Truely I really don't know what to say, other than: "Thank you very much". I am glad that I have helped a bit.

Susan,

What am I going to say to you??? Again I am humbled that you would say such things, BUT "better over the years"??? Ouch! You know the secret don't you? One starts to lose it over the years, and become like that Peter Sellers Movie, where he says little or nothing of use, and everyone thinks he is brilliant. Gosh! I cannot remember the name of that movie.

Orchid,

Thank you as well. Someday we may meet you never know. But, I do really appreciate the comments.

Coffeeman,

Well, for sure no Dr. H here OR all of your problems would have been solved.

Now I want you to keep in strickest confidence what I have so say next. I drink DECAF Dr. says it keeps the BP down, but I think he lies. Worse I get it as Starbucks.

Man, do I feel inadequate.

Seriously, all of your comments are very kind and what really humbles me is that they come from posters here that I respect so highly. Each and every one of you have helped so many people here, and have given such good advice.

Thank you,

JL

JL isn't a BS or WS?? Wow! You definitely have made an impression on me with what you've written, too. Thanks.

Just curious, what made you decide to come here and keep writing?

- 'Being There' His best, I think.

I, 2, am grateful 2 you, JL. You've helped me more times than I can count.

It's also heartwarming 2 know that men like us can live 2 ripe old ages... ...makes me realize that I've probably got a few good years left in me after all!

I echo what everyone else has said here, JL. You know what you have done for me and my wife.

Your best advice ever was about knowing the right path because life really showed the right one to you in the end. So true...and has made this so much easier for me.

I also have begun to help others...but it is comforting to know that I am just continuing what you have done for so many.

Oh by the way...my wife said the same thing after reading some of your posts...she thought you might be Steve Harley in disguise.

And you and I will meet some day...in the presence of our Lord! I look forward to it.

In His arms.

He's gonna kill me....I just know it...but I have to do it.

This post is from way back when...1999. I was the first person to ask his story. And THAT'S WHY he calls me nosey.

Just Learning's story

Ever grateful,
Susan

JL,

I knew your story. How I'm not sure, as I was lurker back when you told your story.

I often wished in my darkest days that my then H would have had someone like you to chat with.....maybe it would have helped, mostly likely not, he was just too far gone......

I don't know if I ever thank you for your kindness to me in those very dark days when I was so alone Singapore......and WH was .... & OS was out of control

Hard to believe those days are 2 plus yrs ago, time even flies in the worst of times.....

Sometime in early 2004 I should be finally divorced, it is finally time.....so things are going well H-town

God Bless you JL for all the good that you do, sing
(who thank the Lord doesn't come crying on here every day any more)

Here's why I know JL isn't Harley...... if he was, we'd all have to PAY $$ for his responses. (sorry to pick on you Steve - we know your time is important ).

But JL c/b a good addition to the Harley team. I vote for JL!!!

If you read some of his previous posts, you will find that JL has been hitting the nail on the head for several years. He is quite talented at this and many here have benefitted.

What we do know is that JL can blush so I guess I'd better stop for ..... now.

Here's stumper: What do you all think JL looks like? (cadet, if you are reading this you can't respond - )

I too want to thank JL for all his help and wisdom. He's truly guided me through some tough times, and I hope he continues to add his two cents in as I continue posting at MB.

I, too, thought he might be a Harley!

Take care,
HP

Orchid:

I met JL in May of 2002. He's not Dr. Harley. He's better!

JL is a kind, handsome "elderly" gentleman from the Bay area.

I'm going 2 try 2 hook up with him again next month. If all goes well, I'll live 2 post in CY 2004!

Hi,

My image of JL is 2 fold.

1. Like a father like professor
2. But soft and cuddly like Captain Kangaroo.

He's the Harley the others don't talk about..every family has one, don't you know?

Just wanted to chime in with my thanks and appreciation too, JL. You've been a good friend. Still wish we could play that round..got the course picked out and everything..say the word. I won't even smile when you take out your belly putter.

You know JL,
besides the good, accurate advice, there is the TIME that you spend doing this. It takes quite a bit of time to read as much as you read, and to amass over 6,700 posts helping your fellows better their lives.

I salute you, and thank you, and it is a pleasure to do so. Since you are also modest, I won't over do it, but I could add in a lot more.

Hey Mel,
Should we do one for Orchid too?
How about coffee man, and bramble rose, pepperband, john, cerri........ shoot, there are thousands. And what about you Mel, what about you?

That's a bear hug!

I think JL looks like that sexy ol guy Sean Connery or maybe Bill O'Rielly, I think he's sexy too!

You just can't know the depths to which you've helped. Way back in my early recovery, when I was confused and sad your replies would often make me cry cuz they warmed me and lifted my spirits so. You often helped me to see the glass half full instead of half empty. I am delighted, literally, when I see you jump in on a thread because your wisdom is timeless and your love and concern shines brightly and warms the soul! I wouldn't have gotten the same degree of tremendous benefit from this forum without you! The world would be a better place if there were more men like JL. Much love to you!
