I was going to read the book today and read through the initial story and it just brought anxiety back to me. How long after the affair would you recommend to read the book?

Do you mean the book Surviving an Affair?
If your marriage has been affected by an affair, we recommend reading the book immediately. It gives you a plan of action whether the affair has finished or not. That will do a great deal to alleviate your anxiety.
If your anxiety is crippling, you should see a doctor and discuss medication.
