Just in case you don't have a cake mix handy, here's my grandmother's recipe. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
2-1/4 cups self-rising flour (I find Martha White or Sunflower brands work best. I don't like cake flour.)
1-1/2 cups sugar (I usually add a teensy bit more)
1/2 cup vegetable shortning or oil (I prefer shortning.)
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring.
Mix well. Pour into greased and floured cake pans, and bake at 350 degrees for about 25-30 minutes until toothpick stuck in comes out clean. Cool and frost as desired.
Actually, I like this better than cake mix. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

Well, I am glad that you sent this recipe out to me. Although I must admit that I didn't get to read it before wife came home and I could save face. I also have to admit that I am a goof. I looked and looked for the mixes that she had mentioned before she went to work. I absolutely COULD NOT find them!!!!! Then, when she came home...I asked her where she hid them. She took me to the pantry and opened the same plastic bag that I had moved about ten times looking for those cake mixes. Guess what was INSIDE that plastic bag....DUH. I am a dork! Thanks again for the words of support sweet pea.
------------------
We stumble and fall sometimes, and that hurts. But it is the most incredible realization when you look and see that it was your spouse that picked you back up......
Take care of and Love each other.....Arik
