Hi all, has anyone had any experience in marriage coaching with dr Harley or steve telling them to keep their spouse at a distance or stay separated until the spouse had showed enough of a pattern of change and once proven, then telling them they should reunite or move back?

Hi bestintentions,

I had long experience coaching with Steve Harley. I have also listened to Dr. Harley on the radio show for many years. What you describe sounds like either Plan B during an affair, or could be instead general advice for separation (without Plan B and without an affair) to encourage behavioral change.

Can you describe your situation?

That kind of separation can feel like you're just in limbo, hoping for change. But if nothing’s shifting, maybe it’s worth considering if staying separated is really helping either of you. Sometimes, space is needed, but if it’s not leading anywhere, it might be time to rethink what you both need.

Yes, that approach is often used. It’s meant to protect your well-being while giving your spouse time to show real, lasting change before reconnecting.
