I've been off my snooping game for the last couple of months because I was so shaken up that our recent couples counseling sessions seemed to be leading W and I towards a split. Now that I've recovered a little, and it doesn't look like we're going to split, at least not for a while, my interest in finding out the OM's ID has revived.<P>Und so - I spent this afternoon driving around looking for my absent W's car - and not finding it because I think they've changed their rendezvous points since I told her I'd seen them together. The other thing I did was to fish through W's wallet while she was in the shower. I was looking for her calling card to get the account # so I can get her account info over the phone, like what numbers she's called with this card (which I know she has). Couldn't find it, but did find something else thats's VERY extremely interesting. This was a key card hidden away all by itself in its own little slot. I was nearly as blown away as when I saw her and OM together in his car, because this key card doesn't fit anything I know of that she uses.<P>So, utter paranoid that I am, my thoughts turned immediately to the possibility that its the key to whatever love nest she and OM use. I'll describe it. It's got an actual key in the middle set flush with the card. (I guess to remind the duh set that it's a KEY card!) There was no room number or any other ID on it, so I'm guessing it's not to a motel room or some such. All it says on it is Ilco Unicorn Key Card on one side and Code N on the other. hi wex, did you do a web search on the company? Wonder if you could contact the company and ask who they sell to in your area? Make up a story-may want to do business with them, blah, blah, blah? If the list is not too big, then you could visit the businesses and view the cards they have, see if there is a match. With only one id on the back it may make it easier or may make it pretty impossible. But we have seen you in impossible situations before and you did great.

Actually whenever I stayed at a hotel with card entries, the cards were never marked with the hotel room #. I imagine that if anyone dropped or lost the card, the hotel doesn't want it to be known which room it will gain access to. But, I would assume it also would have the name of the hotel on it, so maybe is for a car.

cl - Thanks. And speaking of duh, after I did my posting, I sat back and thought, hey, this is the Internet. I bet ILCO has a website. Sure enough. And it was a site that really blew me away. ILCO UNICAN (I read it "Unicorn" in my hurry and excitement!) is a major multinational mfgr. of electronic security systems, especially commercial DOOR locks. All their keycards are for doorlocks, so I know my W's is for some door somewhere, and not for any door that I know about. So I'm thinking, this may mean the OM has an office somewhere in the area and this is where they go. (I'd been wondering about this before, because motel bills would make them go broke if they met at a motel as often as they seem to get together!) And I've got my own keycard for work, which has nothing printed on it except the card #. (But lacks real "duh key" in the middle.)<P>I'm going to take your suggestion. Basically, I've narrowed my "short list" of possible OM ID's down to 2. And I know where one of them works, so if it turns out that his workplace does use this style keycard, I've nailed the SOB! And I can legitimately pretend that my company is looking for a new security system. Even if the list of companies with I.U. locks in this area is long, if the one he works for is on it, I'll know that it's him. Great suggestion! Just call me Sherlock Holmes. R & B,<P>--Wex

kate - Can't be for a car. After looking at the products on the ILCO website, I realized that they were all for commercial doors, typically the kind found in sizable corporations and hotels/motels. Agree with you (and realized myself after thinking about it) that if it was a motel/hotel, they would at least have the name printed on it (but without room #). But a COMPANY does not want someone finding a lost keycard to know the name of the company. (I only just realized this!) Otherwise, they could use the card to sneak in and steal!) IOH - I thought about that possibility. I know it's not to get into her car, which doesn't have this style lock (doesn't even have power windows). Might be for something like Lojak, I guess, but how do you activate that? Her car is a '90 model and don't know if they had this stuff back in those technological dark ages?? It is very unhealthy for you to do this. If you find her car, will that make you feel better. It didn't help me in the least bit. We can't make them change. Save yourself. I don't mean to be nasty. I wouldn't want you to go thru the same [censored] I did. Step back and take another look at what you want. Medic - I have periods (like the last couple of months) where I pretty much stop snooping and other periods where I just feel like it. I think I disagree with you because, though it can be a bit crazy-making at times, other times I do feel more in control of the situation. And I'm doing it mainly because I want to know WHO this guy is. I feel that would give me a lot more control over the sitation, because if I find this out and where he works, I AM going to make serious trouble for him. I did the "turn the other cheek" bit with XW, and I guarentee, I felt a LOT sh1ttier that way that at least making some effort to intervene. I did realize yesterday, though, that the driving around is a waste of time unless I know where they're meeting.<P>If my W isn't going to confess when I confront her, then what choice do I have that snoop, if I want to put some kind of closure on this thing and get on with my life?
