My husband and I have been married 3 months. He is in the Navy, due to the nature of his job I knew that we would not always be able to be togther, but I've always trusted him and it did not bother me. Well, the past month we ran into financial problems and we made the decision that I would move back in with my mother, because I had found a much higher paying position within commuting distance of her residence. Before this time we lived 130 miles away from one another. So two weeks ago I began relocating, so I was coming in and out constantly. Well I came home one evening, continued packing when I reached into the closet to pack his rollerblades, I found two pairs of womens underwear, that while they didn't appear to be dirty, they didn't look clean. When "Bob" got home I asked him about it, and he said that while he was doing laundry, he carried a load of clean clothes up the stairs, and when he went back down to pick up the second load, he picked up the underwear which he had assumed he dropped coming up the stairs. When I told him that they weren't mine, he took them back to the laundry room, and said they must belong to another person in the complex. This would seem harmless enough, but when I came back four days later, I went to run a bath. (I am the most anal person when it comes to a clean bath-tub, I notice any little smudge of dirt.) In the tub were these nasty strands of hair about 7-9 inches long, colored brown. I immediately blew up, I have short black hair, maybe 3 inches long. I started screming at Bob and till now he swears there was no other women in our apartment, so what am I to do? I feel stupid to beleive he's not messing around, but when I think that he is, the pain I feel emotionally is so horrible, I've spent the last week crying every time I try to straighten it out in my head. Any advice, thoughts or anything regarding this is very greatly needed and appreciated.

Hi ddzoe,
It sounds to me like you have very good reason to suspect your H. If he insists there were no other women in the apartment, how does he explain the presence of the long brown hair? As calmly as you can, sit down with him for a conversation - not a fight or screamfest - and ask him to explain how the hair got there. Although it is understandable that you want to scream and yell at him given your pain and feelings of betrayal, he is less likely to be honest with you if he thinks a fight will result, and before you do anything else you need to know the truth.
May I also suggest that you post this question within the Infidelity area of the bulletin board? I know you're not sure if that's the situation or not, but there are some very friendly and wise people who have dealt with cheating in all its forms that hang out over there.
Best of luck.
[This message has been edited by younglove (edited January 24, 2000).]
