You always hear "I just knew she/he was the one for me." Do you always have to know. My boyfriend and I have been together for two years and have recently been talking about marrige, but he is very concerned about the "just knowing", he doesn't feel like he does. He says he can see himself married to me, but that he doesn't just know. Is there anyone married and happy that didn't get hit with the bolt of lightning of "just knowing"? [ October 19, 2004, 02:01 PM: Message edited by: CourtMT ]

We knew we'd get married, but it took him five years to propose. He had things he needed to work out in his head. He needed to believe that I was the best person for him (he hadn't dated much) and that he could spend the rest of his life never being with another woman. It's hard for me to comprehend, but as a physicist, it was more of a mathematical thing for him...go figure. Anyway, it was what HE needed and so I waited until he was ready. Sure I reminded him many times that I was ready, but I knew WE would not be ready until he was comfortable. I refused to drag him down the aisle. Heh! I don't think he would even have been sweating if the sun wasn't directly on us during the ceremony this past summer.
Good luck. You don't want him to marry before he is really ready...resentment is dangerous! He obviously wants to be 100% sure of it...that's a good thing. He takes marriage very seriously and that is so important!
