Not happy times for me in non-marriage stuff.<P>My stepfather, it seems, has congestive heart failure, or at least the beginnings of it. And my narcissist mother is completely out of control. He is 74; I just hope and pray that medication can buy him another 10 years, as it does in some cases.<P>Meanwhile, I fear my beloved kitty (age 13) is dying of chronic renal failure. This came on suddenly. I am awaiting blood work from the vet. Those of you who have pets that are in essence children to you understand how devastating this can be...it's like losing a child. He looks up at me with this pained look, and he can't talk, and I don't know what to do for him. I'm not ready to let him go, but I never will be, and I don't know how I'll know when the time is right...

hi d & c, what a sad day it is for you. No good news, and pain all around. You are right-meds may give him another 10-20 yrs of a fulfilling life. Lots of people do fine on the drugs to keep the fluid off, the heart strong. I hope he is reading and learning about the process so he can help himself stay healthy. <BR>Your poor kitty. If it is kidney failure you can do dialysis for him at night. Very costly and a long term committment but I have a friend here that has been doing that for abt 3 yrs. Her kitty seems to be pretty well managed but is younger (maybe 7?). He appears happy. <BR>I will pray for you during this hard time.<BR>(((hugs)))

OOOOHHHH BABY! The Holiday's are stressful enough but add illness to two wonderful 'people' and wow it throws you for a major loop. Take lots of deep breaths and let us know who the family is doing...prays to everyone!!
