...and the man is going to drive me insane!
I had left him a message that I needed to talk to him about family issues and to please call as soon as he could. Wasn't sure when he was coming home from vacation, but I expected to hear from him today at least. Nothing.
I spent my evening relaxing on the phone with friends and online. I was reading some email about 11:25 pm and was debating whether or not to go to bed. All of a sudden I thought I heard his motorcycle pull into the driveway. I shook my head and told myself to stop the dreaming. Then I heard footsteps on the stairs, and a moment later, the doorbell rang.
Have to admit, I was cool ... NOT! Well, after my "What are you doing here?!" I did say hello. He came inside and we talked for a few minutes about my BIL's father's terminal illness, then I asked him how vacation was.
He said it was miserable. He had a lousy time - all kinds of things went wrong and it was one thing after another. I was good - didn't clap or cheer [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] - although, at one point I did grin widely, shrug and say, "Well, see what you get when you go to Florida without me?" He chuckled at that.
He stayed for about 20-25 minutes, and then as he was going toward the door, I asked him if he was going home. He said he didn't know what he was doing, why? I told him that if he was going to go riding on the motorcycle, maybe he could take me for a ride. He repeated that he didn't know what he was doing. I kissed him good-night and told him I loved him and that I'd missed him while he was away. He said,"yeah," like usual and went on his way.
About 10 minutes later, he was back! "Going for that ride or what?" he asked. I changed into my jeans and a sweatshirt, grabbed my jacket, gloves and helmet and we went on our merry way ...
It was only a little cold and we only barely missed hitting one deer. That was a little scary - it was foggy and all of a sudden there it was right in front of us standing in the middle of our lane. He did a great job slowing us down FAST and the deer sorta glanced over at us and ambled off the road.
We were riding for about 45 minutes and then he dropped me off here at home.
My head hurts!
But I had a nice time, anyway...
hehehe ... vacation was miserable ... Hi terri,
I never thought I would say this about anybody's vacation, but here it is: I'm happy that he had a miserable time! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I'm also glad that you had enough self control not to cheer out loud, but I can see the grin coming up, I have a big smile on my face right now and I'm getting the news second hand [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
When we were back home my H had a motorcycle and when he was feeling confused or something wasn't 100% he would just pick me up and go...He used to say it was great because that way he coud think - not the best conditions for talking - but at the same time feel close to me. Maybe your H needed that last night.
Now wipe that grin off your face and go to work [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] smilling happily every five minutes is acceptable however [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Hugs
Kat
------------------
Each and everyone of us is deserving of a kind word, a gentle thought, and the gift of understanding.

Thanks, Kat, and K.
I still have no idea where I stand with him, but was very surprised that he showed up here at all, let alone that he came back and took me on a motorcycle ride. Especially given his behavior over the past couple of months.
Yes, K, you did tell me that ... you could very well be right! I can't imagine that with all the problems that everyone was cheery and happy ... And I KNOW that on our last trip to FL last year, I WAS cheery and happy, and we had a GREAT time together...
Now I have to see if he thinks he can install the radiator that a friend found for me... If not, I suppose I COULD attempt it myself ... maybe I will attempt it myself AND ask him to help ...??
Then I need to see if I can get my car inspected ASAP ... it runs out on Tuesday! THAT I will do MYSELF!
------------------
terri
I believe in miracles...
Well, it doesn't seem to have taken long for things to get back to "normal" ... Talked to him a little while ago on the phone. Told him that I would have the replacement radiator for my car by tonight, and asked him if he could put it in for me. He said he could but wouldn't be able to get to it until the weekend. I said that was fine.
I asked him what he was doing for Thanksgiving and he said he didn't know. He asked me what I was doing and I told him I was going to his sister's. He started asking what my family was doing and I told him my parents weren't home. "What about your sisters? Aren't they doing anything?" I repeated that my parents weren't home, and then pointed out that I can't really drive anywhere too far because of the car. Then I asked him, "Is there a problem with my Thanksgiving plans? After all, I was invited to dinner at your sister's." A second of hesitation and then, kind of like he was surprised: "you were?" I told him, yes, a month or more ago. "Oh." I commented that he was the only person who no longer considered me a member of the family. He didn't say anything to that.
I know his sister asked him to dinner a while ago. I don't think she mentioned that the slug is not welcome. She did, however, say to me that if he showed up with her she would toss them both out into the street. I know from his reaction today that she didn't tell him that I would be there.
:sigh: I feel a little bad that he might not be with his family for the holiday because I'll be there. But then, maybe it's time for him to realize that other people who are important in his life do not approve of what he is doing. He's been "coasting" along as if everything is fine up to now, and people have been behaving normally toward him. But there ARE consequences. His family doesn't want her in their lives (their decisions, NOT mine). And I am not going to let him take people who have been my family for 15 years away from me.
It'll be interesting to see how the holiday goes...
------------------
terri
I believe in miracles...
