This poem was written for my wife before we married. It was published and recorded by the National Library of Poetry. And I played that recording at our wedding, before our vows. So, you can tell, that it means quite a bit to me and us.
To My Dearest Love, Tracy
When we first met, a small spark was created
Soon it caught and kindled a flame
As time passed, a bonfire of passion was made
But now it seems that things have changed
Our love has grown by leaps and bounds
I wouldn't change our lives for the world
So forgive me if I sometimes sound
As if I think that our loves are not quite thorough
We've had our problems, a little internal strife
I think that it has made us stronger
To give us a better life
and make our love last even longer
We may not always agree
Or see things eye to eye
But this I will assure you
That I will love you until the day that I die
Since that time 5 years ago....many things have happened in our lives. Right now, we are going through some major internal strife, and we are living separately for the time being to sort through our feelings. Saturday night, I have a date with my wife, to try and start over to rekindle that flame once again. I wrote this poem recently for her, as a follow up and a reassurance of my feelings for her
For My Dearest Love Tracy, Part II (real original title)
The bonfire of our love seems to have dimmed
I have let the woodpile grow small
Only thinking of myself
Instead of the good of us all
As I lie in bed at night
With Lonliness as my bedmate
I think of the things I could have done
I just hope that now is not too late
I doubt I can ever repay
For what I have put you through
I can only ask today
For a chance to make it up to you
I never realized before
How much you really mean to me
But a part of me went with you
When you had to leave
My heart is full of sadness
But the love there still beats
The days slip by slowly
And I must remain on my feet
There has to be hope for us
FOr we have made it through worse
I can only hope for your return
As I lay down this verse
A life with you is complete
I know happiness when we are together
I will do anything you ask
For my love for you will last forever

Thank you for your wish for us. I truly hope that things will work out. There are so many things that I want to do tomorrow night, I can't do them all. Hopefully it will just be a great and romantic evening
