I wrote this for my husband, but haven't given it to him yet. what do you think?
explainations:
Our son had colic, and he would rock him for hours, and sing to him.
His nickname for our daughter is hound dog (have no idea why, but she loves it)
He had to sign papers to take his Dad off life support, and sign permission papers for our son to undergo chemo, for luedemia. (papers explaining that the treatment itself would likely cause death)
One finger tounch: When son was in hospital we would be on each side of his bed. Every once in a while we would simply reach across him and touch finger tips, simple but that is all it took to revive us both, and give us strength.
Poem:
Some look at he hands of a man and see,
Calluses, & scars, rough as can be.
But look through the eyes,
Of a woman in love,
The history is where the real story lies.
She sees, and still feels, the very first touch,
Of his hands on her cheek, her hands, and her heart.
His hands hold the future, and she loves him so much,
When he says they should be one, never to part
She sees hands rocking and patting a baby in tears,
The song “Bye Baby Bunting” rings in her ears.
It wasn’t a chore or a job to be done,
It was a labor of love for his first, for his son.
She sees later a daughter, daddy’s little girl,
She is his sunshine, his “hound dog”, and always his pearl.
His hands lift her up, as he tells her to dream all her dreams,
And the girl knows forever, on him she can lean.
She sees hands so strong, but they tremble at times,
With strength and love, two papers he signs.
This for most men would be too much not to share,
But he says it is his job, his burden alone he must bear.
She knows the power that his hands always hold,
At times she is lonely, her heart broken and cold.
But a one finger touch from his hand to hers,
Is all that it takes to revive and assure.
In her heart there are millions of pictures stored,
Of his hands through the years, those to come, and before.
The many lessons they’ve taught, all the love they’ve sustained,
But the most important events will always remain………….
She sees hands that are folded,
As he keeps his family in prayer.
If only he could truly realize,
That he is the answer to theirs.
I think your poem is great and very sweet. I think you should put it on a nice piece of stationary and give it to him. Good Luck!
Thank you all. I think I will give it to him this weekend. Or maybe leave it on his desk at work. Thanks for the support
