Something I wrote when the loneliness takes hold of me and the nights seem to last forever.

The still of night has come to visit me again; she comes to cover me in endless darkness.
Through my weary soul I seek to sleep in endless dreams, but only nightmares do I keep. This place of utter darkness I must dwell for my life has become a living hell.
Fate has cast me in this dungeon of despair, this place that tortures my soul and has left only sorrow to keep me company. Death my only visitor, always promising eternal peace.
The key to freedom my lover has taken, she has left only loneliness in her place. Loneliness that has consumed so much of me that I fear there will be nothing left of the person I once was.
Maybe the moon and stars shine brightly like jewels in the sky tonight but this emptiness does not allow me the joys of gazing upon them anymore. Maybe someday fate will take pity on this retched soul and release me from this agony. But for now Eternity is felt with each passing minute.
I long to feel the warmth of the sunlight again but my pride has led me to this place. And so I must stay until death keeps his promise of eternal rest.
