Bringing the Darkness to Light
I. Lost
We spend forever in silent desperation
hands out front, searching in the dark
we bump into each other and, scared,
we keep pushing away, further
into darkness
Still we seek each other
and search for what’s right
we shove and fight one another
and fall away from the light, further
into darkness
II. Denial
Afraid of each other,
afraid of the facts
we push to get closer
oblivious to our acts, further
into darkness
III. Awakening
I wake this darkened morning
can’t face it another day
fall to my hands and knees
to the Lord I pray
“Give me strength,
by your will I can hang on.
Give me life,
by your grace I can live on.
Give me light,
so your goodness, I will see.
Forgiveness,
maybe that’s too much asked from me.”
IV. The Miracle
My eyes become adjusted
to the growing light
My mind becomes aware
of the glowing truth
My heart fills with hope
and beats strong and true
My faith, reborn again
for life and love and you
V. Faith
Leave the depths of darkness
warmed by the forgiving light
Off the road to despair
I travel down the path of love
From all our sins
we can ask forgiveness, release
For our love, ourselves,
and our lives,
we make peace
