..prelude....
{Fresh out of a dream
My breath keeps time with the
Pounding of my heart
It beats
Like the love I have for you}
A Heart's Destination
My walk was long, the journey pointless
As I stumbled through a great vined stairway
The clouds weere covered in pinks and reds
Your voice a distant calling
Inside my ticking head
Tucked in the folds of my pocket
Hid a diamond treasure
It's intention never to be on my hand
But to belong to the fingers of another woman
And as I scurried down, down,
Blackbirds sang out to me
They seemed to laugh at my journey
As I tried to scrape beyong the trees
My feet soaked with rain
They still continued to carry me to you
Not slowed by a single drop, then
At the end of the path, they stopped
Frozen.
I fumbled at the ring,
Twisting it into my pocket fabric
Gathering loops and piles around the gold
My hands reached out for someone to hold
And there he was.
Just like I remember him
Hair wiry, his face reminiscent of
a bird, sitting in his nest of hair
His body too small for the other parts to share.
Confusion travelled up my spine,
And took the words out of my mouth as
I wandered further down the path with him
Dared into his eyes that hung over his chin
Those orbs decorated with gold and blue flecks
That take each breath away from my lungs
and my heart forgets how to beat...
I am lost in my mind's retreat
But then I saw...
you!
You were hiding under that hair, the skin
The teeth that kept your tongue in
And I saw my husband looking at me
Not the eyes I expected to see
My soulmate found in an old lover's glare
My mind raced back to the moment as
I took one more long stare
The ring!
My hands sprung out of my pockets
And thrusted the ring onto the ground
Without question or answer
We kept walking faster and faster and faster...
Then death came to see us at the
end of the path
And I ws reborn again, a ghastly image
Searching the earth for the comfort
Of your hand
And finally, in a dungeon
Filled with past memories
I saw you again, but you were you
Creating a brilliant light of amber
More brillian than the sun
I stepped into your light
And then like an old picture show
Our story begun.....
