Things have changed you said,
as you looked into my eyes.
They just aren't what they used to be,
you finally realized.
The power of our love is barely there.
Whatever we had before,
somehow, we no longer share.
You've hurt me in a way I can't explain.
I've never felt such dreadful pain.
I can't seem to let go~
To say the words "goodbye".
I just want to forget & go on together with our lives.
Somehow, I guess it's hopeless.
I can't make you stay.
But after so many years of love,
how can it just go away?
Even though you've lied and cheated for so long~
Even though what you've done was wrong,
I want to keep you,
comfort you,
protect you from the pain-
wipe away the tears & start all over again.
We've got children to raise and bills to pay.
We've got a faith to build on, live & pray.
How can you let go of these responsibilities?
How can leaving us put your mind at ease?
Even though you say that you're not happy any more.
Even though you don't love me, like you did before,
There's got to be a way of building our relationship again.
There's got to be a way for you to let me in.
Don't walk away from the life we've had~
Surely it wasn't all that bad
Don't let go of what we've shared,
Don't leave me alone-
I'm so very scared.
Even though you've done me wrong
Even though I feel I can't go on-
Even though.....
[ April 20, 2002: Message edited by: unworthy ]
[ April 20, 2002: Message edited by: unworthy ]
[ April 20, 2002: Message edited by: unworthy ]

your poem touched me and i shared it with W. i crossed out the "lied and cheated for so long" part 'cuz i didn't feel it applied to us. she's only lied and cheated for a short while so far LOL. anyway i thought it would be a LB to leave it in and i'm doing too much of that on my own. thank you for your poem. hope your'e doing better than me. Hi Unworthy,
2002es here. You have written a beautiful poem - thanks for sharing. You sound like such a deep, intelligent and artistic person. I've tried to write poetry with no luck, but I come here often to read it. Good luck to you.
