Hi All,

This was actually a song that I had playing in my head when I wrote it down. It was written for the few friends that were there for me when I hit rock bottom and didn't see any path out of the darkness. I find it to be a validation that my recovery was beginning.

When I am lost
I can’t understand
How a simple gesture
Such as holding my hand
Makes my world so different
It’s hard to explain
How having you to lean on
Really helps ease my pain

I’m so grateful that I can’t even begin to say
How much you mean to me
I’m glad that you came my way.
And it’s only through your love that I began to grow
You’ve shown me how to live
You’ve affected me more than you know.

There are times when fears
Take control of me
Then I look in your eyes
And suddenly I’m free
Then I hold my head up high
My heart is on the mend
I’m proud of who I am
I want to thank you my friend

Now when I’m alone
I reach so deep inside
I find there’s comfort in
That place where I used to hide
I’m no longer haunted by
What I can not achieve
I see the beauty there
It’s because in me I believe
