All Around This Little Town

There`s nowhere I can go today without you
My memories and thoughts are all about you
All around this little town
Our happiness was found
But now a crying sound
Softly echoes

And remember how we faced each day together
The seasons of our Love went on forever
All around this little town
Green spring and autumn brown
White winter at sundown
Summer meadows

All around this little town
Our Love was written
But now our Love it dies
And lies frostbitten
We did not tend Love`s seeds
Neglect though good intended
Instead now withered weeds
‘Midst blowing snows

Tomorrow I may see you on the corner
And though my broken heart may soon feel warmer
From You there`s no rebound
All around this little town
Our Love`s sweet hallowed ground
And so it goes

I like your style Douglas. I also associate my feelings with nature, this is how I write my poems. I wrote one that helps me get through the turmoil, it has a hint of optimism.

Dear Shooting Star:

Thank you for your kind words. My poem says just how I feel. My x-wife and I live in a small town north of Helsinki, Finland. It is impossible to go anywhere here without being reminded of our marriage of nearly 18 years. I would like to return to the USA, but cannot because I am committed to remain near my children. I liked your poem too.

Doug,
18 years is a long invested time, I can understand why you're in so much pain. Mine only lasted 6 years. Whenever I have moments of sadness about the breakup, I think of my favorite cliche' "true love means being happy for that person even if it means you're not part of his/her happiness." Have you written other poems? I'd love to read them as well. Hang in there!
