I promised under one of the forums to post this poem. The Lord led me one day to write this poem and it's about people who think they know Jesus but really don't because they only look for him when they need him. The revised version, which was made into a tract at my church actually has scripture referneces for each line but I have to look further for that one. Hope this blesses you. The tract we made was titled Got Jesus? It has been a hit at our church outreaches for the past 3 years. I hope you are blessed. Feel free to share it with others.
Who Am I
I knew you before you were born,
I knew you before being in the womb,
My desire is to love you as a father loves his child
But you have forgotten who I am
And only look for me when you need me
Oh it pains me so to see how lost you are
But I continue to pray for you, to reach out to you,
I reach further for you
You say that you believe in me but do you really???
How can you believe in someone you do not know?
For you do not know me
To truly believe in me means you know me
And to know me is to love me…
and to love me is to serve me
But you don't want to serve me and you only want to know me from a far
You do not know me, and it pains me so
You look for me when you are grieving, when times are hard,
You look for me when you feel alone or lost
And yet, although you do not know me
I'm always there for you,
Always there to pick you up
Always there to give you strength
Always there to love you
Always there ready to forgive you
I do this all because I love you as I wish you loved me
But you do not know me and it hurts me so
Who am I
I am the great I am, I am the beginning and I am the end
I am he who gave you life and I am he who will come to judge
I am he, I am your father
I am everything, without me you have nothing
I am Jesus the light of the world, I am salvation
But yet you do not know me and it hurts me so.
