THE STORMS OF LIFE
I ponder, oh Lord, the storms of my life;
Made to give me strength, yet I feel anger and strife.
You promise me peace through these storms each day.
But, I ask you, oh Lord, is there no other way?
Sometimes the storm seems to last so long.
In my head, no tomorrow, in my heart, no song.
Necessary? Yes. Desired? No.
Oh Lord, please guide me, which way do I go?
I call and I cry, won’t you lend an ear?
Put and end to this suffering, remove my fear.
What’s that you say? You hear all my cries?
Am I only listening to the enemy’s lies?
Jesus restores all that the devil stole;
not on the outside, but within my soul.
“Go to His Word,” they say. I’ll find your love;
and strength like a lion, peace like a dove.
Though my tears like rain, my rage, like thunder;
Yet, somehow I know what others may wonder.
Where is this peace which passes all understanding?
And this comfort and joy and love never-ending?
It’s in my heart where Jesus lives;
And ALL of these He freely gives.
So, when I wonder, “God, where are you?
There’s a storm coming. Won’t you walk me through?”
You say, “Here I am, oh child of mine;
Accept my Son and His love divine.
Confess your sins, turn from your ways;
And He shall be with you all of your days.
Secure His love and peace in your hearts;
Don’t lose sight of it when trouble starts.
The storms of life He won’t take away;
Keep your eyes on Him, ALWAYS PRAY.”
Thank you, my Lord, for this trial, this test.
Once I have passed it, I know I’ll be blessed.
Whether top of the mountain, or valley below;
Your love, Oh Lord, I’ll always know.
Thank you, Lord, for calling me your own.
I await the day You call me home.
This life down here, I enjoy indeed;
But it’s a life with you, I must concede;
That keeps me going day by day.
I love you, oh Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen.
