My wife of 10 years has recently gotten involved with what I call a sect. It is the religion of Herbert W. Armstrong that goes with several church names. The latest being Reformed Church of God. Their beliefs are so far fetched that I cannot even comprehend some of them. To be short I will say there is no voting, military service, no women in charge of anything, and no celebrating of non religious holidays as Easter, Birthdays, Christmas, etc. as these are pagan. She has just informed me that she cannot join with me and our kids fun with the Easter bunny, egg hiding etc. as it is sacreligious. n I new of her ideas of this when we married but she told me it was not something she was very interested in.
She has been depressed for several years now and takes an antidepressant. She will not see a counselor because she says it could hurt her nursing career. I must say in her defense that she is an excellant nurse and was a loving wife and mother till this with the Armstrong movement as I call it. Her mother is also into this movement as well. Her mother and father fought over this for years and now they live with us and it is getting way out of hand. I do not want to keep harping on about this but I just need another opinion. I love my wife and want to help but I am scared whe will try to get our children into this (ages 5 and 7) and I cannot deal with that. The Armstrong beliefs are to much I think for a child to handle.
Hurting99
Hurting99, i would imagine your wifes mother has a lot of influence on your wife. You need to start praying to God for a direction on this situation. Your wife is involved in a cult that claims to be pro family but is very destuctive to marriage and families. Through this situation your own faith needs to grow in Jesus. I would have to say the inlaws need to go asap. Its time for you to earnestly pray that the Lord would deliver your wife and children from the demonic influence of armstrongism that disguises itself as the light and not a very good one i might add. Oh Lord i pray that you would open the eyes and ears of hurtings wife and touch her heart by your Holy Spirit and deliver her from the error that has entered her heart and mind thru this cult. I pray also Lord that you would expose this cult even more to those who are caught up in it and that they would find out about the life of the founder and how he was not who he claimed he was.Guard the hearts and minds of hurtings children thru all this chaos and deception and give hurting the strenth to trust in you Lord that his family will be delivered from this spiritual war that there in. In Jesus name,Amen

Thank you for your words. I am trying what you said. But I have one question. Do you have any reference for the Armstrongism that shows its true cultism. My wife gets very upset when I try to question any of these beliefs. She says this is what she needs and starts getting angry if I question any of them. Her standard answer is this world is of satan and this is the only true church. And of course this just makes my blood boil. This is not very easy. I just went through an Easter weekend and only I could be with my kids with their Easter baskets and egg hiding which I do not believe is a pagan holiday worshipping the sun god as stated my Herbert Armstrong. Again thank you.

quote:
Originally posted by Lostpup:
Hurting99, i would imagine your wifes mother has a lot of influence on your wife.
