In every other area God has truly blessed my H and I and we are doing wonderful spiritually, but financially we are in quite a pickle. I am so afraid of losing our house. It has become so bad it is starting to come between me and my faith that God will pull us through this.

Like I said, every other area is great. We are doing his works, not because we feel we have to, but because we feel it in our hearts and we are doing things from our hearts and out of our love for Jesus.
So what am I doing wrong? At first I thought this was a trial, and we have kept tithing and kept up our walk and our faith, but now it has come to a point where we very may well lose the house, can't afford groceries, and struggling to just get gas $$$ for church and work.
Lord, we cannot do this without you, we need you in all that we do. You know that material things are not important to us and if you do not want us to have this house, so be it. But Lord, could you please let us know what you want? Please show us your will. If you want us out of this house, could you please help so we can still make the 2 payments we missed and help us with our other needs. Lord, we love you so much and just want to be where you want us. Am I doing something wrong? Please let me know. In Jesus's name I pray, Amen.

Dear Very Hurt,
I'm sorry to hear of your financial difficulties and did say a prayer for you right before I started writing.
I would like to give you a little practical advice that I know is not popular with clergy ;-) I think it is a good thing to give to churches, but I don't think the New Testament teaches one to give 10% of your income. We are no longer under the law. I have heard some teach that we should give even more than 10%(these are usually people who benefit from this teaching). Also, I have heard some say that tithing preceded the law because Abraham tithed to Melchizadek, but that was only one time. We have in the past tithed even more than 10%, but lately it's been 5%. We tithed the 10% + until we had spent our entire saving account and had little else left. I feel that all our money belongs to the Lord and spend it as he would want me to. I believe he wants a roof over our heads and food on the table.
If you still believe you should give the 10%, continue to do that, but go to your church and explain your situation. You have been faithful tithers and find ourselves in need. Any church should be willing to, at the very least, provide groceries for your family.
God bless,
Dee

Thank you all very much for your support and prayers. I got a job today. I have been a SAHM for many years now, I will be working 2nd shift so we won't need a sitter. I pray my marriage and family won't suffer from this but am thankful and excited to begin working again.
Tryingtohope, thank you so much for your generous offer, you are truly a special person but I'm hoping this job will help dig us out of this neverending hole. I have said a special prayer for God's blessings on your life.
Again thank you all.

Wow! Can any of us wonder if God is with us??? What wonderful news.
Anyway, as a back up, if you get into a bind, email me.
I am so grateful to God for this forum and it is so exciting to watch prayers be answered.
Please keep Gentle in your prayers, too - she can't email right now but she is in a financial bind too.
By the way, your prayers must have done something for me because I had the best visit with a client today and our company really needs help! I really felt it was a fateful meeting. Thank you!
