I am requesting prayer for my job. I am currently a volunteer, a one year term that ends Aug. 14th. I am praying the college I am serving will hire me at the end my volunteer term. I really need this job, as my husband was just laid off a couple of weeks ago. I am not eligible for unemployment, and the college will be creating a position for me, but they do not know what kind of a position to create - (we have a brand new human resources person). Please pray in agreement with me that I will be given a job here at the college, and that the new human resources person will have divine wisdom in creating the position. I keep hearing through the grapevine they are going to hire me, but still no official word - and I have 7 working days left of my volunteer year. I went and took a typing test - 61 wpm - and submitted that yesterday, still - nothing. They say that if they create a job, they have to advertise it in-house for 10 days, then open it up for applications state-wide.... This could be a terrible delay - unless they hire me with a temporary position? I don't know, but I sure will appreciate those prayers.<P>Thanks so much<BR>TnT

Lord, as You take care of the wildflowers in their glory, You told us to seek first the kingdom of God and You would take care of all our needs besides.<P>You have always taken care of our needs and we praise You for that. If it is Your will, please help TrustnTruth to get the job that You have in mind. Let it be a job where her Christian ways can shine and glorify You. Let it be an opportunity to witness. Let it not take over her life but leave her enough energy to be a wonderful wife as well. I ask this in Your Name, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers.<P>Another director resigned last week, so they will be combining centers and naming one director for all centers. They said they will create a 51% part time 3 month temporary job for me to report to the new director. (I have been directing one of the centers for the past year full-time.)<P>At least I have continuous employment for another 3 months, and am requesting more prayer. I will not be eligible for insurance benefits while I am only a temporary employee, and will have to delay my ankle surgery from my fall back in April. <P>Specifically, please pray that they create a permanent position for me in the center as a director. I think it is okay to pray specifically for this job. Do you remember the parable about the woman who was persistant with Jesus, and she retorted "Even the dogs get the crumbs from the table?" <P>I know this job is in accordance with God's will. Thought you prayer warriors might want to be updated, by the way, STILL REQUESTING PRAYER!<P>4pm last Tues, (my last day of my volunteer internship) I got a 10 second conversation with the VP of the college, who said that I will be given a temporary position. I had to give a presentation on behalf of the college the following day 4 hours north, still not knowing if I would be employed. I was on the agenda and everything! Then on Thurs. I had a grant meeting 4 hours south! eee gads, talk about keeping me in limbo!<P>He told me to work 20 hours a week, and they would hire me as a secretary 2 position.... (I am administering & writing grants, and running a program!) When I got back on Fri, (after exceeding 20 hours for attending these out of town meetings), the Human Resources person had created the paperwork to employ me but without a job name or description or anything.... It is still up in the air! Grant reports are due, and I am suppose to attend a pre-grant conference 4 hours south on Fri again this week. As far as I know, Secretary 2's can't administer grants.... The VP is avoiding me, and doesn't have time to talk, neither does Human Resources.... Is that a good thing?<P>Anyways, please keep me in your prayers. And my husband! He was laid off over a month ago. There hasn't been one job in our area that fits his qualifications since he was laid off. We are in a rural area, so I am feeling very desperate for prayers.<P>Our house has been for sale for a month now, and we finally had 3 families come to look. STILL NEED THOSE PRAYERS!<P>I talked with one of our Washington D.C. contacts the other day, and she called the VP and let him know that she expects me to be doing the grants (she can pull the money from the college if she wants.) She told him that it is a 3 year grant, and I am the only one who has been to all the trainings, and I am the one writing the reports, and implementing the activities for the grant. I requested a meeting with the Business Mgr, VP and Human Resources person to review my job description - which I have not yet received nor believe it has been created. (Hope I get paid!) VP told D.C. person that he would not create any position that had the name director in it for me (no bachelors degree.) She told him she didn't care what position it was called, but that she expects me to do the grants. <P>Woo Hoo? Anyway, PLEASE keep this in your prayers. This could either make him angry or confirm that I should be hired. Please? Thank you very much.<BR>TnT

Uggh!<P>Tuesday afternoon the business office asked me to sign a time card, and they had a position name on the card. Obviously they created a position. So, I asked, what was the position? They told me to talk to the VP and to Human Resources. So, I did. The business office in essence created an emergency opportunity so that administration would have to talk to me.<P>Well, the job is an entry level clerical/office position. Unbelievable. I can't afford to accept it. Here I've worked 2 weeks, not knowing what I would be paid or what position they were giving me. <P>I have been directing the work of a clerical person who is rated higher than I am. I am directing an academic support program, responsible for about 400 college students a year, supervising, developing methods of assessment, manuals, policies/procedures, databases, web-site management, etc. and they think that I qualify as an entry level office person..... uggh!<P>I asked them to upgrade the position, and agreed to serve one more week to allow them the time to do this. I will end my service on Tuesday unless they can upgrade this to a suitable classification.<P>Please, will you all pray? I went with my husband today to the work-force center, and he is a "displaced" worker. No jobs with his skills in our area. He has to be re-trained. <P>The offer on the house was on a contingency, the buyers have had their mobile home for sale for a year and cannot sell it, so it is not a viable offer. <P>We are feeling pretty desperate, and will appreciate all your prayers.<P>Thank you<BR>TnT

Hi trustntruth,<P>Sounds like your VP is being a pain in the backside. Why can't you be a Director without having a Degree, is this law or is it defined in a job description somewhere? Sounds unlikely to me ... more like the VP doesn't wan't anyone that can potentially threaten him working below him! That's just my opinion though.<P>Is it worth speaking to your contact in Washington, to suggest that if you are not given a job title that reflects your skills then you will have to pursue "other opportunities"! It will probably wind your VP up going over his head again, but i'm sure he'll get over it given time.<P>Anyway, my prayers are with you right now.<P>Plec.<P>

Oh man! I can't believe these people. You are right not to accept that position. Do you know what they will do if you don't accept it? <P>I know this must be so scary and depressing. I thought you deserved an update. God is Good!<P>We had a great time with my son from San Diego over the weekend! (This was the 'cherry' on top of answered prayer for those who don't remember.) While he was here we rode the ATC's, had a BBQ, and drove to a small community to find where the Amish live. He actually got to talk to two Amish teenagers! The highlight of his trip. <BR>I am so relieved they have upgraded my position to intermediate, and I will go ahead and apply for the director position, although the requirements specify a bachelors degree. (Full time position) Who knows! (Say a prayer for me!)<P>After completing my volunteer assignment, I have been given a small education award. I have decided on a major, Business Administration. This is the major I had picked 26 years ago when I enrolled at a community college in CA. I hope that the classes that I have taken will transfer. (Say ANOTHER prayer for me!) I have about 60 credits from CA. For the AA degree I am required to have 64 credits. I want a bachelors degree, so I am hoping I can automatically take the classes at the university level. I have reviewed all the classes for the lower degree, and my experience and education is beyond what the community college is offering, with the exception of macroeconomics and math classes.<P>I did the college assessment today and passed all of the english, reading and math (93% or better!) - but they would like me to pass the intermediate algebra placement test. I told them I didn't want to spend the money on an algebra class (I had that in high school); I would prefer to brush up on this on my own and test at a later date. One of the students I talked to said she had the books that I could barrow. So I registered for school! I'm only taking 10 credits but they said that for each credit there is 2 hours of homework. 20 hours of work per week and 10 hours of classes, 20 hours of homework, - I think that is enough of a load. Maybe I am better off without the director position, at this point. The money sure would be nice, though, with husband out of work!<P>Our open house had activity, but no offers - except for the young couple that has a trailer that they are upside down on. <P>We have a young girl staying with us for now, she is the new VISTA volunteer at the college. She graduated from the college last year - and will be an education major. She had a place rented, and the people rented it to someone else before she got back up here to move. (She lives about 4 hours away.) Anyways, it caused her to be homeless. So hopefully she can find some housing that she can afford. (VISTA volunteers don't make a ton of money!<P>I am still waiting for the details from when my mom went to the dr. about her leg. <P>Hope everyone had a great weekend and didn't get too tuckered out.<P>Praise the Lord today, because he is good.
