I was wondering how many out there pray together as a couple? I've been listening to Christian radio programs and reading some books that talk about the spiritual aspect of marriage and how important it is. I hear the divorce rate of couples that pray together is about 1 in 5000 compared to about 1 in 2.

We didn't. I guess that's why we're in a mess right now. We said blessings before meals - that's it. And went to church together. I wanted my husband to take the leadership and pray together - he didn't - but I should have anyway. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif)
I think families should DEFINITELY pray together. Christ should be the center of every relationship. I've seen an illustration with 2 people with a cross between them. The horizontal line connects the two people. The vertical line separates the two people at a healthy, non-dependent distance, and stretches toward heaven to represent the relationship with God.

We didn't before his A, but now we do everyday. I've always heard 'the family that prays together, stays together' and I believe it, but not the just before dinner 'memorized' prayers, we now get on our knees together everyday and each take our turn with our prayers.

I tried to pray with her, she refused. Claimed that her relationship with God is personal and between her and Him. She really thinks that's the way is should be for everyone.

My husband and I started praying together at the beginning of our marriage. It didn't last very long. Many more times throughout the years we would start -- it would last a few days and then disappear again.
D-day was in July of 2000 and we haven't missed a day since -- even when we're apart we'll pray together on the phone. Too bad it took us 30 years to learn the lesson the hard way.

Sorry, I just found this, haven't had alot of time lately.
Soso, yes, our marriage is restored. It's been 2 1/2 years since contact. He was not religious at all before his A. I still hurt alot from it, but in most ways our marriage is better than before. And yes, God is in the center of it now.

The only thing that stopped us was I got a job in which I got home after her bedtime. After that we never regularly had devotions together until a little more than 3 years ago we had family devotions together with my two children (now ages 15 and nearly 13).
The family devotions went well for about a year but my oldest started to burn out on them, she also started to burn out spiritually about the same time.
Now with her lack of spiritual interests and my wife's bad example (she informed me of her plans to divorce me when I returned from my Christian college's reunion in March which my daughter attended with me) I am very afraid of what her future holds for her.
So I guess that would put me in that 1 in 5000 catagory. However in the light of all that has happened over the past 5 months I have to seriously question whether my wife is saved.
I am however and I would appreciate your paryers.
Joe
I believe that couples should pray together. I have a hard time praying out loud in front of others, but that is one of my goals. My H and I have prayed out loud a couple of times together, and I really believe that it can only strengthen your marriage. Right now mine is falling apart again. I think that we again have put God on the back burner when he should be first and foremost always.
