I'm not too worried. Just a little.
Had a routine mammogram a couple of weeks ago. Something was abnormal. I know it's probably nothing. But it might be something.
Anyway, here we are between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and this comes up.
But I want to know NOW what is going on. I am lucky that Friday I go for a follow-up study of some type. Maybe next week I will have an idea what is going on.
But meantime, there is this concern to live with, and children to live with, and life to maintain. And doubt.
So, if you pray, pray. And if you don't, think positive thoughts or try praying or do whatever you do.
[ December 03, 2001: Message edited by: cinderella ]

cinderella--
I will pray, and pray, and pray. You just try to remain calm, and think positive thoughts, and put all in the Lord's hands---He can carry this!!!! You don't need to worry about tomorrow---God is already there.....
hugs, Krystal

As a former medical professional (now a mom) I can say that wait until the results today. It should be good outcome, actually, regardless of the results. I did clinical trials for breast ca w/many patients and can say that even when small lesion found that it was usually handled well and with great success. When serious problems occurred, it was usually b/c the woman had NO prior mammograms or was conscious of lumps or anything at all. You will be prayed for, as right now, you may be undergoing your test. I pray to give your doctors wisdom, God give you peace. I just, incidentally, had a friend who had a mammogram come out fuzzy and they did a needle biopsy on her 2 weeks ago. The biopsy came out ok, but she did have to go through that procedure. In most cases, the outcome is good, even if there is lesion found. Why? Because God has given you wisdom and bravery enough to go and get the mammogram in the first place and you continued to do this follow up. If there was something to seriously worry about, I think they may have already given you your answer. Take this as a win/win situation. If the answer is that you're ok, then prayers and praise abound! If the answer is your doctor finds a little something, then you will have your problem taken care of properly and again praise and prayer abounds! Those are basically your two outcomes.
Dear God, please watch over cinderella today as she undergoes this medical procedure. Give her physicians wisdom and give her peace and bravery to accept this outcome. We know that you will give her the ability to survive and overcome this and thank you for carrying her now as you do for all of us who are enduring here at MB. I ask your Holy Spirit to descend down upon her now and heal her soul. Amen.

We can now pray prayers of Thanksgiving.
After nearly disfiguring me by doing 5 films and having to go all the way back to the muscles against my chest wall, I got to talk to the radiologist reading all those films. They had to pull the films from 5 years ago before they decided that nothing has changed in all this time.
So, there was much rejoicing in my heart over the weekend.
After that fourth film, while they were deciding what to do and to think, I was scared big time. Had a long talk with God and told Him I didn't know if I could deal with bad news.
I guess I need to tell all future mammographers I deal with to work hard and look for this little nodule. That's a scary thing because you have to nearly maim me to find it.
Anyway, mammograms aren't fun. All you men should have the experience. It would give you new appreciation for women.
I think one reason we get to endure something so uncomfortable is because the insurance people who make decisions about diagnostic tests must all be male and they may not understand. I think we should send some of those men in for mammograms or dickograms. Maybe something would change.
[ December 03, 2001: Message edited by: cinderella ]

Congratulations! I can place in my new journal and prayer request log a check by an answered prayer. Yes, men do have something painful to endure and I've done it in clinicals very long ago and it's called catherization. Very painful too. Hee Hee. Like your new xray name.
Dear God, thank you so much for this wonderful news. I was anticipating the best and want to thank You for giving her doctors wisdom and for giving Cindy the peace to endure this extremely uncomfortable procedure. Thank you for being Our Great Physician and the healer of this world.

Hi Cinderella, I'm so glad everything is OK!! I prayed a quick prayer for you before realizing you had already got the good news.
I have to go get a sonogram for my breast and I'm really scared too. I feel like that would be the last straw. (Although I guess the last straw doesn't really exist.)
Not Peachy, here in Italy they say that the sonogram is easier to read than a mammogram. It also doesn't hurt. Do you know the pluses and minuses? They told me that normally if the mammogram is suspicious they do a sonogram, so in my case (I have a lump) they are going straight to a sonogram. I have cystic breasts - does this change anything?
Thanks for any insight. OK, I guess I should go look this up somewhere but I don't really know where.
