For anyone in a different time zone or staying up late tonight (I think I am in Mountain Time Zone and know I am posting close to 11pm way up here in STILL snowy Edmonton, Alberta), please pray for my Dad who is having a type of prostate surgery at 9am Atlantic time Friday morning.
My Dad has Parkinson's Disease and I don't know if that complicates matters or not.
On a note of thanksgiving, God spared me from a car accident that would have been my fault. I totally did not see the car coming as I turned left onto a street. Angels must have intervened and the smart driver carefully swerved in front of me.
On a funny note, I was distracted because I had just seen a mouse trying to drink a mcd's milkshake at a barren intersection...probably I was a little toooo tired to be out driving...thanks, Lord, for "chauffeuring" me home safely and giving me something silly to think about to distract my worry about Dad.
I already feel peace--thanks for your prayers, friends. Yes, I'm on a different time zone - LATER. My H works late swings, so he's not home yet (it's nearly 1 am)...
Dear Lord, I ask that you guide the surgeon's hands as they operate on freshstart's dad this morning. I ask that you give them the knowledge they need to get to the source of the problem with his prostate. Then Lord, I ask for quick healing. I pray that his Parkinson's doesn't interfer at all.
And Lord, please give Freshstart peace...
IJN, Amen

Sheryl, thank you for the prayers.
Maybe my request isn't quite as off topic. God has been laying it on my heart the last couple days about my relationship with my father.
God has brought so much healing into my life but my relationship with Dad...well, I feel I lost him emotionally years ago. I want him "back" before God takes him to Heaven (I don't think he will die right now but he has outlived all of his brothers and his health is crumbling at a very young 64 years of age.)
My Dad was the first man I ever loved intensely--in a healthy way. I don't know how to fix the emotional distance, particularly with the physical distance between us. We still love each other. He experienced a horrible trauma years ago and has never been the same. Confessing my A didn't help matters but time has passed and life is too short. He forgave me. Please pray that God shows me what to do now and that I don't lose him yet.
Thank you.

I will pray, Freshstart.
You know, I'm here so late many nights, because my H works a yucky swing shift. I am very alone at times. I wonder if I do any good here, yet I have nothing else to do, seemingly. Do you know that the prayer I prayed for you is the first actual prayer I've prayed in a week or more? I feel so far away from God, so often.
Thank YOU for the privolege (sp?) of praying for your dad. I feel the same way about my own dad -- I adore him.
I too confessed my affair to my parents, as well as some later decisions (like divorce) and they never once said that I was anything but their lovely daughter. This is a big change from my teenage years when my mother and I hated each other.
Anyway, I will pray for your relationship too... and take care!

Again, thanks, Sheryl.
I'm surprised you feel like you aren't more help. I have found the things you have to say very wise and helpful. If I have you pegged correctly, then I will never forget when I thought JL was a woman and you replied about his former life in a joking light.
It must be hard with your H working shifts. It's been a big adjustment for H and I not working together anymore (a HUGE adjustment for me to stay out of his business in ministry..never knew what I nag I could be!)
So far no word on my Dad but I imagine he is in the recovery room by now. Will keep you posted.
Please don't underestimate your value here. It really meant a lot to know someone saw my prayer request right away. I just needed that reassurance of others' prayers and God used you to comfort and bless me. hugs.

Praise the Lord, God is very good. I am happy to here that recovery is going well for your F. My FIL went through the same surgery 2+ weeks ago and he is already back to work, he too was in a no pain recovery, for the most part. I confess that I too need to work on things between my Dad and I, things aren't bad, just closer to non-existant.
Blessings to you, knight
