Since I turned 30 (five years ago), I am disgusted every time the t.v. comes on because it seems like every other show that comes on has a half dressed woman on it. It really bothers me to the point that I feel so yucky and unattractive. What bothers me the most is that my husband just sits there and doesn't seem bothered by the content. I'm not sure how or what I'm supposed to be feeling while sitting there and these shows come on our basic cable channels. I don't approve of it of course because I know God does not want us participating in these kind of shows. But my husband does not see anything wrong with it despite my feelings. Am I over reacting?

I personally don't think you're overreacting, but men do tend to see things like this differently (especially since they LIKE looking at the female body!)

Have you ever heard of the book "Power of a Praying Wife"? In it, the author recommends praying for change in your H, as opposed to nagging, or fighting with him to change certain things. I think this would be something you could pray about, and God would grant you your prayer request.

Surely God would want your H to feel as you do, regarding seeing women as sexual objects, not human beings, not to be exploited. Start praying about God changing his heart everytime you see those shows that are upsetting you so much. I believe you will see God work in your H this way!

Keep us posted!

God Bless,

Yes YOU ARE NORMAL. Unfortunately, most producers are men.
I had this discussion a few times with my husband. I told him that if he was cmfortable with me looking at mens' penises, I could accept this. I won.
My teenage boys were cured of their ideas when I told them that if they think looking at women taking their top off on screen was o.k., then they would not mind if when their friends came over,if I took off my top. They were appauled and said that would be wrong. I said well atleast they know me.The women on sceen, you don't even know.

We don't discuss it anymore. We haven't had T.V. for ages now. More time to talk to eachother. We do rent movies though.

I think it is so weird that so many shows and movies are this way.I think that these Hollywood producers don't get enough sex at home-when the rest of us do!

Bevie,

I strongly recommend the book Lupolady suggested. It is very powerful and explains what we are to do as wives. What you believe is right but it doesn't help to try and convince your husband.Even if you win the battle you will lose the war. They can always look at things like this with other friends or anytime they are away from you. We cannot stop anyone's lust, only God can. We are not our husband's spiritual leader.Jesus is over our husbands.Keep things in God's order or your house will be built on sinking sand.

The book is like $6 at Walmart. I pray this helps you.I had to learn this lesson the hard way by house house sinking.
