I have been a minister for 27 years. Now my wife of 28 years feels she doesn't want to be a minister's wife. We have been on this stuggle for over a year now. Also, she says she has no romantic love for me any longer, but that she loves and will always love me. 3 years ago she had open heart surgery and says she isn't the same person she was. I know where my strength comes, but I surely could use a little more at this point. Please pray for us.

Pastor - I am a law enforcement officer, a police chaplain, and a minister-in-training (pending the outcome of my attempted M reconciliation). I want you to know I care and will be praying for you. In your position I understand the need for privacy but I encourage you to get MC immediately. Our God is a God of restoration and we know Scripture supports a strong M. Is there anything else in your W's life that could cause this change? Is she having physical problems like menopause? I don't know your ages so I'm shooting in the dark.
Check out the MB principles and you can get some help here. Is she open to honestly communicating with you? Would she be willing to participate in these exercises? Give me some more info so I can offer some help. God bless!

Dear Heavenly Father, We come before you lifting up our brother BH. We ask Lord that you would here his plea for help and that You would honor him for seeking You and Your kingdom for the answers. Father, this is one of Your shepards who has come under the attack of the enemy. We ask that You would come swiftly to his rescue, that Your will would be done in this marriage, that the enemy must release his hold on his wife immediately. Lord we bind the enemy off of every area of his wife, his person, his marriage, his children, his ministry, and his calling. Lord, we lose ALL the powers of heaven to come and fight this battle for his victory and for Your glory. Father, if there are any areas of his life that displeases You and would cause You to hesitate, we ask that You would reveal them to him and that he would be humbled to repent of them quickly. Lord, we ask that in this time of warfare that Your mighty love, Your power, Your mercy, Your forgiveness, and Your grace would be clearly exhibited to all that are being called by Your wonderous name. We thank You and we praise You for all You have done and for what You are about to do in this marriage. In Jesus name. Amen

Hurting and Singleguy,
Thanks for your encouragment and prayers. HPK, I am 49 and she is 47. I have thought about Mp and have talked to her about that. She says no. But at least for now she isn't interested in leaving. I am and have been in therapy for Co-Dependency and will see my Christian Thearpist tomorrow. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers.

When your wife says she doesn't want to be a minister's wife anymore... do you mean that she does not want to be YOUR wife or that she does not want you to be in ministry? Does she want a divorce? Or is she wanting you to stop pastoring? I'm assuming it's that she wants a divorce but wanted to clarify because the wording you used says she doesn't want to be a "minister's wife" which caused me to wonder if she resents your ministry?
Be cautious with any counseling you receive. Be sure to go to the Lord FIRST and examine yourself. Confess any sin and wrongdoing on your part. And examine to see if you are first seeking the Lord through His Word and in prayer... and then secondly, seeking counsel from a counselor. Many a counselor has condmened a marriage which is why I encourage you to be discerning. Examine any counsel you receive in light of God's Word. Obviously, not all counseling is bad... but the counselor is only a fallible human being who more than likely does not know God's specific will for your life and marriage the way God does!
I pray for you now that God softens your wife's heart towards you, that God reveals to both of you any sins, and that you both will be humble and contrite and confess any sin and turn from them so that God can heal your marriage. I pray that God specifically gives you wisdom, insight, and understanding so that you will know what exactly to do.
God bless you. [ October 01, 2003, 03:30 AM: Message edited by: LoveMyEx ]

We are praying. If there is anything at all I can do for you don't hesitate to e-mail or call me. Let me know if you need my contact info.
Is she burned out on the ministry only or also the marriage? Does she belong to an accountability group? Do you? Does your denomination offer ministry or marriage counseling?
Hang in there and know that God is good!
