C'Mon, guys, let's get it back together. Our numbers seem to have been "shrinking" lately. I know I'm just as guilty. I also know it pains me to read on MB often, cause there's so much sadness, so much "woe is me.....my life is so awful, my S hates me and left, and now I have nothing........" I can't deal with that. It brings me down. And that's not good.
But today? I had an AWESOME day at church today!!!
Our associate pastor spoke, and he's so great. He has a *terrific* heart for God, mostly for missions, but he's such a student of the Word. I ALWAYS get fed such MEAT when he preaches.....
So, OK, I think we all needed to hear this, so here's today's sermon:

quote:
Why is it that Christ, and His disciples and the followers of the early church were able to heal the sick, raise the dead, do miracles daily, and we are not? Were they MORE SPIRITUAL, closer to God? More anointed? What?
Well, yes, actually, they were more anointed. No, not by God, but by their own actions! Follow me here. According to pastor, there are three "anointings." The first anointing is the "Leper's anointing." It's the anointing of salvation. We all get it when we are saved..........we are anointed by being covered by the Blood of Christ.
Second anointing is the Priestly anointing. We are anointed and commissioned to preach the gospel. We have a testimony. We are "...preach the gospel to the ends of the earth...." We have this anointing, also. Once we are born again, we HAVE a testimony, and we are to preach it! We are commissioned to do it daily, although we don't.
The third anointing is the "kingly" anointing. We move in authority when we are anointed with the Kingly anointing. So how do we get it? We get it by laying down our self and taking up our cross and "becoming LIKE CHRIST....
Christ daily walked closely with the Father, and emptied Himself of His own earthly desires, so that He was empowered to perform all the actions the Father wanted. He walked in the Kingly anointing, by not letting His own emotions get in the way.......

This is a lesson we all need to learn. What I took away from this sermon is that *I* need to get closer to God. NOT let the "problems" of this world get to me, (really, not even CARE about them!), and only do what God has for me to do.
I am "empowered by God" to do His will for me. That means I need to FORGET about the *itch at work who is trying to belittle me, undermine me, and scratch and claw her way above me to boss me around. I need to FORGET about the loneliness I feel when I come home and there is no one here to share all this with (about how terrible work was). I need to FORGET about what my xH is doing, whether he's "happY" - or coming to the "end" of himself, looking at the mess he made of our lives with his selfish want of a div. I need to just relax and know that God understands my fears about my ailing dog, my aches and pains, and fear of growing old alone.....
I need to be IN HIS WORD daily, NO - every minute of every day. I need to empty myself of my needs. I need to LOOK TO CHRIST for my strength, the JOY of the Lord, and LOOK TO CHRIST for my anointing so that I can walk in POWER every day to accomplish His will for me, through me, and those around me, by exercising the authority I have been given as one of His Children, anointed with the Holy Spirit.
I need to remember that as His anointed one, I have the authority to tell satan to GET OUT OF MY LIFE, and my business and HE HAS TO.
I have been given the power to raise the dead, to heal the sick, to move mountains, etc. and I need to see that, and WALK IN THAT AUTHORITY. How can I do that? STAY IN HIS WORD, & let it fill me constantly, while the cares of this world are emptied out of me.
I hope this excites everyone else as much as it excites me!
Let's get this Prayer Request forum back to what it should be. Let's share what God is teaching us. Let's start Praising God. Let's start lifting each other up again. Let's start seeing more answers to prayer. Let's BE what God intended for us to be. Let's LISTEN to Him, and obey Him, so our lives will CHANGE THIS FORUM, and our individual worlds. [ January 25, 2004, 07:09 PM: Message edited by: lupolady ]

The more intimate I am with my Abba (Daddy), the more "I can do all things...".

Thank you for sharing that - great encouragement. I've got a neat one to share, too.
Pastor cancelled church yesterday because of an icestorm. Some of us were already there. A handicapped man arrived in a cab - he was the only other person in church other than us. We decided we were going to reach out to him. I spent some time getting to know him and he allowed me to pray with him. As we talked, he clearly was in need of salvation. I was blessed to be used by Jesus to bring this man into the kingdom. He got saved! I gave him a ride home, cleaned his sidewalks for him, and will now disciple him as a new believer. God is so good! An icestorm could not keep us from having church after all! God bless!
John 16:33.

Thanks for sharing with us, hurtin' - how God used you in this way to ANOINT this lost soul!
New Idea: Listen up, guys (and gals).....
Here's a cool idea I just thought up (prolly someone else does it, too, but I just never heard of anyone doing this): I "decided" (is prolly the H.S IN ME "deciding" this, eh?) that I need to eat the meat of the Word more (DUH!).
So, the new commitment I am making is to EAT whenever I "eat." Get it? I will EAT (spiritual Food) every time I eat physical food!!
I am very UNdisciplined when I eat. I usually eat alone so that makes it easy to have bad habits.
One thing I have ALWAYS done when I eat is READ. Well, not when I am "dining" with someone. But when I am eating alone, I usually pick up a newspaper, magazine, something............even when I was a kid, I used to eat and read the cereal boxes!
Soooo, that's it. I will EAT everytime I "eat." That way, I will "remember" to EAT often. If I want to be anointed in the manner I spoke of yesterday, then I need to EAT more often, or at least more "regularly" than I usually do.......I'm ashamed to have to admit that.
Any other "single" diners care to join me?

Tom and Grace felt they wanted to freshen up their marriage and decided to go to a marriage seminar. The speaker said the most ignored area of marriage was communication. As an example he said " Tell me men, what is your wife's favorite flower? ". Tom leaned over and tapped Grace's forearm and said " It's Pillsbury, isn't it? ".
So lupo, what's for dinner? And just what other "BAD" habits are we talking about?

Father God, I personally want to thank You for Lupo. I ask that when she has those lonely moments, that You would serenade her. That You would put precious memories in her heart and soul. Thoughts that would soothe her and take away the loneliness. Father, I ask that You would do a miracle in this loving sister's marriage. That You would perform a miracle for her. One that would minister to all the people around her. Lord, I ask that You would give her victory in every area of her life. That Your will would be done, and no other. In Jesus name. Amen

Yes Dear!!!!!!!!,
It's just that you said you are undisciplined when you eat, that you eat alone, and it's easy to pick up bad habits. My mind just kinda ran with it. You know me!!! I wasn't sure if you mumbled when you chewed, or talked to yourself, maybe picked your nose, or adjusted your bra, or dipped your food in ketchup, or gulped your food, or scratched the bottoms of your feet, or.... But since you inform me that you have no bad habits, well, just ignore the above!!!!
How could I pray for ya, if I didn't truly love ya!!!!! Maybe I need more prayer than I thought, huh?
God Bless lupo

"dipped your food in ketchup"
Is this bad? Do you mean dipping all food (cause that would be gross - imagine broccoli! ) However, if you mean things like dipping french fries in ketchup....that might be an issue. Sorry to jump in on your conversation, it just caught my eye. I met a lady once who never, ever dipped anything in any form of sauce. It always went on top. Very proper lady, she even cut up her egg rolls.

skillet,
No, I wasn't referring to french fries, or the obvious things you dip in ketchup, but weird things. I have a friend who will sit and dip his sandwich, his pickles, or even his finger, until the ketchup is gone. plus it was just one more thing to pick on lupo with!!!!!!!
God Bless SG

Wow, sg,
That's soooooooome vivid imagination you've got!
When I referred to "bad" habits, I WAS referring to the "reading while eating" comment......... Another thing: I don't like to "touch" my food (or maybe I just don't like getting my hands dirty?), so I eat everything with a fork and knife........ Let's see? What else? Hmmm, nothing........
OK, well, maybe there are a few other things........buuuut, I'll NEVER tell YOU what they are!!!!!!!!
