are there more than one way to get intimate with God? I know you can get there with prayers, but I'm sure there are others.

Can you tell me what they are and how do you get there? Thanks and God Bless!

Jamesp,
This may be more of a female thing and I'm almost embarassed to say it because it sounds "out there." But I just learned to see God in everything. When my husband and I were out with OP and he was treating her like a queen and me like....well, anyways, there always seemed to be an empty chair on the other side of me and I just knew that God was there. He was my date. Honestly, there would be times when I would reach over to "hold His hand." It gave me strength when I had no reason to have any. God has even been my dance partner. I think it's just learning to see Him as someone who shares your day with you. I go to sleep most nights reading my Bible and listening to see what He says. He's just always there. We just have to actively see Him, because our Enemy wants us to forget the Nearness of our God. Real relationships are never with distant images, but with those who are right beside us all the time.

The way that I have become intimate with God is that I put Him first in EVERYTHING. I talk to Him all day, share my joys, my concerns, my flaws & ask Him to change them, my happiness & thank Him. I thank Him for EVERYTHING, even the trials in spite of how I'm feeling because I know that He knows what's best for me. I talk to Him as a Father, a friend, a brother, a husband when my H was gone. Just make Him first in your life. This will take time to do if you've never done it before. Go to Him in everything, every decision, every joy, every sorrow, and eventually it will be like 2nd nature to you and you'll feel that hunger to be close to Him. Hope this helps.

I'm still struggling with this. I start the day in prayer and then I let the "work and trials of the day" distract me. Part of the problem is I am very analytical and structured. I need to know the exact process and "words" for accomplishing something. I am getting better at "personalizing" my talks with God. And thanks to the ladies here, including faithfulwife from another thread, I am getting/understanding/implementing "it" more and more.

Reading the Bible is definitely one way. Prayer and definitely praise and worship. God loves us unconditionally, and we must remember to not always ask for things only. We must remember to thank him for everything be it good or bad (in our eyes, not His).

If you haven't seen the MOVIE yet, see it. You will definitely fine praise and worship for Him IMVHO <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> )

I thank you for those who had posted. For those who didn't, but have other ways that they use to get close to God please share it with me and other so that we can find ways to him. Keep them coming.

Thank you and God Bless
